• Blake Patrick Nelson made an initial appearance on two counts of sexual assault-second degree. The public defender’s office is appointed as counsel. The preliminary hearing is scheduled at 1 p.m. on March 22. Bond is set at $50,000 cash only. Should Nelson obtain his release, he is to go to the adult probation office to sign a pre-trial release agreement. A no-contact order has been issued for the protected parties.

• Anissa Kayrie Irwin, of Centerville, made an initial appearance on a operating while under the influence-third or subsequent offense charge, an eluding charge, a reckless driving charge, a littering charge and a driving on the wrong side of a two-way highway charge. The public defender’s office is appointed as counsel. The preliminary hearing is scheduled at 1 p.m. on March 22. Bond is set at $6,000 cash only. If Irwin bonds out, then she is released with supervision through the Department of Correctional Services. A substance abuse evaluation is ordered with the results submitted to the court within 60 days.

• Javier Gonzalez Torres made an initial appearance through a Spanish interpreter on a driving under suspension charge and a speeding charge. He pleaded not guilty and a pre-trial conference is scheduled at 9:30 a.m. on May 1 in Magistrate Court.

• Rosibel Andrade made an initial appearance on a driving under suspension charge. She pleaded not guilty and a pre-trial conference is scheduled for 9:30 a.m. on May 1 in Magistrate Court.

• Eric James Padron made an initial appearance on an interference with official acts charge. Padron pleaded guilty and the fine is $250 with an 87.50 surcharge and $60 in court costs for a total of $397.50, due within 30 days.

• Larean Margraeta Skogan Walker, of McCallsburg, made an initial appearance on a possession of methamphetamine charge. The public defender’s office is appointed as counsel. The preliminary hearing is scheduled at 1 p.m. on March 29. Bond will continue as posted until the conclusion of this case. A substance abuse evaluation is ordered with the results submitted to the court within 60 days.

• Alejandro Rigo Victor made an initial appearance on a possession of marijuana-first offense charge. The public defender’s office is appointed as counsel. The preliminary hearing is scheduled at 1 p.m. on March 29. Victor is released on his promise to appear. A substance abuse evaluation is ordered with the results submitted to the court within 60 days.

Accidents

• On Tuesday, a pickup driven by Daniel Wayne Brandt, 74, of Marshalltown, was eastbound on East State Street attempting to turn left onto North 13th Avenue when the pickup collided with a pickup driven by Penny Irene Braye, 56, of Marshalltown. No injuries were reported. Damage to the Braye pickup was estimated at $3,000 while the Brandt pickup received an estimated $4,000 in damage.

Arrests

• On Tuesday, Anissa Irwin, 29, was arrested for depositing litter on a highway, driving on the wrong side of a two-way highway, reckless driving, eluding and operating while under the influence-third or subsequent offense.

Grundy County Sheriff

Arrests

• On Tuesday, Montrell McClellan, 22, of Marshalltown, was arrested in Boone County on a Grundy County warrant charging him with domestic abuse assault impeding the flow of air or blood and two counts of domestic abuse assault causing bodily or mental illness-first offense. McClellan remains in the Grundy County Jail in lieu of $10,000 bond.
