Court — Wednesday

• Juan Roy Lizarde made an initial appearance on an assault causing bodily injury charge. The public defender’s office is appointed as counsel. The preliminary hearing is scheduled for 1 p.m. on March 15. Bond is set at $1,000 cash only. A no-contact order has been issued for the protected party.

• Lewis Delbert Randolph made an initial appearance on a violation of a no-contact order/contempt of court-third offense charge. Christian Stickrod is appointed as counsel. The contempt hearing is scheduled for 10:30 a.m. on March 12. Bond is set at $1,000 cash or surety. A new no-contact order has been issued for the protected party.

• Brynn Michelle Price made an initial appearance on a possession of drug paraphernalia charge and a pre-trial release violation charge. Jeff Hazen will continue as counsel. The pre-trial release was revoked and a bond of $2,000 cash only instated. Price pleaded guilty to the possession of drug paraphernalia charge and the fine is $65 with a $22.75 surcharge, a $125 law enforcement initiative surcharge, a $10 DARE surcharge and $60 in court costs for a total of $282.75, due within 30 days.

• Sifredo Ernesto Gomez made an initial appearance on a failure to appear for a pre-trial conference charge. Jeff Hazen will continue as counsel. The pre-trial conference is rescheduled for 1:30 p.m. on March 8. Bond is set at $5,000 cash only.

• Logan Andrew Calkins made an initial appearance on a theft-fifth degree charge. Calkins pleaded not guilty and a pre-trial conference is scheduled at 9:30 a.m. on May 29 in Magistrate Court. The public defender’s office is appointed as counsel.

• David Lance Duff made an initial appearance on a trespass charge. Duff pleaded not guilty and the fine is $200 with a $70 surcharge, a $125 law enforcement initiative surcharge and $60 in court costs for a total of $455, due within 30 days.

• Tyler McShane White made an initial appearance on a simple assault charge. White pleaded not guilty and a pre-trial conference is scheduled at 9:30 a.m. on April 10 in Magistrate Court. A no-contact order has been issued for the protected party.

• Jose Angel Aguilera Chairez made an initial appearance on a driving under suspension charge and a failure to obey a traffic control device charge. Aguilera Chairez pleaded not guilty and a pre-trial conference is scheduled at 9:30 a.m. on April 10 in Magistrate Court.

• Rigoberto Alcala made an initial appearance on an unsafe building ordinance violation charge. Alcala pleaded not guilty and a pre-trial conference is scheduled at 9:30 a.m. on May 8 in Magistrate Court.

• Sandra Lynn Basilius made an initial appearance on a theft-fifth degree charge and a possession of drug paraphernalia charge. Basilius pleaded not guilty and a pre-trial conference is scheduled at 9:30 a.m. on April 10 in Magistrate Court. Breanna Nelson is appointed as counsel.

• Michael Troy Schmidt made an initial appearance on a faillure to yield upon entering a through highway charge. Schmidt pleaded not guilty and a pre-trial conference is scheduled at 9:30 a.m. on March 20 in Magistrate Court.

• Harold Cline and Cynthia Cline Harrison made an initial appearance through counsel, Brandon Buck, on an unsafe building ordinance violation charge. They pleaded not guilty and a pre-trial conference is scheduled at 9:30 a.m. on April 10 in Magistrate Court.

• Randy Johnson and Doris Johnson made an initial appearance on an unsafe building ordinance violation charge. Johnsons pleaded not guilty and a pre-trial conference is scheduled at 9:30 a.m. on May 8 in Magistrate Court.

• On Tuesday, a burglary involving damage to property was reported in the 500 block of North 12th Avenue.

• On Tuesday, Logan Calkins, 19, was arrested for theft-fifth degree.

• On Tuesday, Birja Rai, 31, was arrested for driving while license is denied, cancelled, revoked or suspended.

• On Tuesday, David Duff, 57, was arrested for trespass.

• On Tuesday, Juan Lizarde, 26, was arrested for assault causing bodily injury.

• On Wednesday, Lewis Randolph, 47, was arrested for contempt of court/violation of a no-contact order.

Accidents

• On Feb. 28, a pickup driven by Chase Tobias Trevino, 21, of Marshalltown, was northbound on Fourth Street stopped at the intersection with Main Street and then proceeded forward and collided with a vehicle driven by Dennis Lester Johnson, 84, of Albion, which was westbound on Main Street. No injuries were reported. Trevino was cited for failure to yield from a stop sign. Damage to both vehicles was estimated at $5,000 each.

• On Tuesday, a car driven by Christine Lynn Wagner, 67, of Marshalltown, was northbound on South Center Street approaching the intersection with Merle Hibbs Boulevard when it entered the intersection on a red light and collided with a car driven by Anders James Carlson, 29, of Marshalltown, causing it to come to rest on top of a snow bank. No injuries were reported. Wagner was cited for failure to obey a traffic control device. Damage to the Wagner car was estimated at $6,000 while the Carlson car received an estimated $5,000 in damage.

• On Tuesday, a Jeep driven by Brittnie Cheyenne Oleson, 19, of Clemons, was southbound on South Center Street on the viaduct when the driver came upon a stalled vehicle with its flashers on and stopped resulting in a vehicle driven by Bernard Scott Budge, 37, of Marshalltown, colliding with the rear of the Oleson Jeep. A vehicle driven by Kayla Lynn McGehee, 32, of Marshalltown, came upon the incident and collided with the rear of the Budge vehicle. Budge was transported to UnityPoint Health-Marshalltown. Damage to the Oleson Jeep was estimated at $2,000 while the Budge vehicle received an estimated $8,000 in damage and the McGehee vehicle an estimated $7,000 in damage.

• On Tuesday, Cindy Chantele Martinez, 36, was arrested on a warrant.

• On Tuesday, Wiyual Mut Tip, 49, was arrested for improper use of lanes, no insurance, no valid driver’s license, operating without interlock device and driving while license is denied or revoked.

• On Tuesday, Sifredo Ernesto Gomez, 26, was arrested on a warrant.
