• Justin Scott Zitzow made an initial appearance on two counts of a forgery charge, a failure to appear for an arraignment hearing charge, a fraudulent use of a credit card charge, two counts of a theft-fifth degree charge, a possession of drug paraphernalia charge, a possession of marijuana charge and a failure to appear for a jury trial charge. The public defender’s office is appointed as counsel. A preliminary hearing for the new charges is scheduled at 1 p.m. on April 12. The jury trial is rescheduled for 9 a.m. on April 18 with a pre-trial conference at 1:30 p.m. on April 12. The arraignment hearing is rescheduled at 1 p.m. on April 11. A substance abuse evaluation is ordered with the results submitted to the court within 60 days. Bond is set at $15,000 cash only.

• Brian Lacsina Demesa made an initial appearance on a possession of methamphetamine charge, a voluntary absence from custody charge, a possession of drug paraphernalia charge and a providing false identification information charge. The public defender’s office is appointed as counsel. The preliminary hearing is scheduled at 1 p.m. on April 12. A substance abuse evaluation is ordered with the results submitted to the court within 60 days. Bond is set at $5,000 cash only.

• Eric Robert Hannah made an initial appearance on a probation violation charge. The public defender’s office is appointed as counsel. The probation revocation hearing will be scheduled by the District Associate Court. Hannah is being held without bond.

• Javier Johnny Valencia made an initial appearance on a possession of marijuana-second offense charge, an interference with official acts charge and a providing false identification information charge. The preliminary hearing is scheduled at 1 p.m. on April 22. Valencia is released on his promise to appear. A substance abuse evaluation is ordered with the results submitted to the court within 60 days.

• Ronald Emmanuel Crawford Hernandez made an initial appearance on a violation of a no-contact order charge. Crawford Hernandez pleaded not guilty and a pre-trial conference is scheduled at 9:30 a.m. on May 1 in Magistrate Court. Crawford Hernandez was released on his promise to appear with the admonition that the Tama County no-contact order is still active.

• Andres Rodriguez Gutierrez made an initial appearance on a driving under suspension charge. Rodriguez Gutierrez pleaded not guilty and a pre-trial conference is scheduled at 9:30 a.m. on June 5 in Magistrate Court.

• Kyle Michael Harris, of Gilman, made an initial appearance on a failure to stop in the assured, clear distance charge. Harris pleaded guilty and the fine is $65 with a $22.75 surcharge and $60 in court costs for a total of $147.75, due by the end of May.

• Corey Hilson made an initial appearance on a driving under suspension charge. Hilson pleaded guilty and the fine is $250 with an $87.50 surcharge and $60 in court costs for a total of $397.50, due within 30 days.

• Juana Saldivar Juarez made an initial appearance on a leaving the scene of an accident charge. Saldivar Juarez pleaded guilty and the fine is $65 with a $22.75 surcharge and $60 in court costs for a total of $147.75, due within 30 days.

• Nge Htway made an initial appearance through a karen interpreter on a driving under suspension charge. Htway pleaded guilty and the fine is $250 with a surcharge of $87.50 and court costs of $60 for a total of $397.50, due in 30 days.
