Court — Monday

• Ramon Jesus Mora made an initial appearance on a child endangerment charge and a domestic abuse assault-second offense charge. The public defender’s office is appointed as counsel. The preliminary hearing is scheduled at 1 p.m. on June 20. Bond is set at $2,000 cash or surety. A no-contact order has been issued for the protected parties.

• Jessica Danielle Hamlin made an initial appearance on a operating while under the influence-first offense charge and a striking an unattended vehicle charge. The preliminary hearing is scheduled at 1 p.m. on June 28. Hamlin is released on her promise to appear. A substance abuse evaluation is ordered with the results submitted to the court within 60 days.

• Eduardo Martinez made an initial appearance on a failure to appear for a probation revocation hearing. Marshon Dubbert will continue as counsel. The probation revocation hearing will be rescheduled by the District Associate Court. Bond is set at $1,000 cash or surety.

• Crystal Marie Lennie made an initial appearance on trespass-first offense charge. Lennie pleaded guilty and the fine is $200 with a $70 surcharge, a $125 law enforcement initiative surcharge and $60 in court costs for a total of $455, due within 30 days.

• Cynthia Kay Bryant made an initial appearance on a operating while under the influence-first offense charge. The public defender’s office is appointed as counsel. The preliminary hearing is scheduled at 1 p.m. on June 28. A substance abuse evaluation is ordered with the results submitted to the court within 60 days.

• Robert Marker made an initial appearance on a littering charge. Marker pleaded guilty and the fine is $65 with a $22.75 surcharge and $60 in court costs for a total of $147.75, due within 30 days.

• Eric Gomez Patlan made an initial appearance on a driving while barred charge and a no valid driver’s license charge. The public defender’s office is appointed as counsel. The preliminary hearing is scheduled at 1 p.m. on June 28. Bond will continue as posted until the conclusion of this case.

Accidents

• On Saturday, a vehicle driven by a 12-year-old male in an effort to move it out of the way of another vehicle collided with a legally parked Acacia in the parking lot. No injuries were reported. Damage to the juvenile’s vehicle was estimated at $2,000 while the Acacia received an estimated $5,000 in damage.

• On Saturday, a car driven by Jayden Lawrence Cowan, 18, of Marshalltown, was southbound on Third Avenue at the intersection of Plaza Heights Road attempting to turn left when it collided with a vehicle driven by a 17-year-old female traveling east on Plaza Heights Road attempting to turn left onto Third Avenue. No injuries were reported. Cowan was cited for no insurance-accident and violation of a restricted driver’s license. Damage to the Cowan car was estimated at $2,000 while the juvenile’s vehicle received an estimated $5,000 in damage.

• On Monday, a car driven by Armando Jara Cruz, 34, of Marshalltown, was leaving he parking lot at Kwik Star when a car driven by Susan Estelle McGrew, 67, of Marshalltown, was attempting to turn around and a collision occurred. No injuries were reported. Damage to the McGrew car was estimated at $1,000 while the Jara Cruz car received an estimated $2,000 in damage.

• On Friday, a theft of a motor vehicle was reported in Melbourne.

Arrests

• On Friday, Mary Moody, 58, was arrested for interference with official acts and disorderly conduct.

• On Friday, Scott Haugan, 58, was arrested on a warrant charging him with flight to avoid prosecution, failure to appear – felony or awaiting sentencing or appeal, possession of marijuana-first offense, operating while under the influence-third offense and five contempt of courts-resist order or process of District Court.

Accidents

• On June 3, a pickup driven by Joel Randolph Kiehl, 27, of Gladbrook, was northbound on Wallace Avenue while the driver was facetiming his wife when he lost track of his location and ran the stop sign at the intersection with the Garwin Road resulting in a car driven by Gage Thomas Fraser, 23 of Marshalltown, colliding with the Kiehl passenger side sending it into the northwest ditch where it rolled twice before coming to rest. Both Kiehl and Fraser were transported to UnityPoint Health-Marshalltown with injuries. Kiehl was cited for use electronic communication device and failure to obey a stop sign. Damage to both vehicles was estimated at $10,000.• On Thursday, a car driven by Pamela Jo Davis, 59, of Traer, was westbound on 120th Street when it struck a deer that entered the roadway from the south ditch. No injuries were reported. Damage to the Davis car was estimated at $7,500.

• On Wednesday, a vehicle driven by Martin Hussein, 25, of Des Moines, was southbound on Highway 330 when it struck a deer that entered the roadway disabling the Hussein vehicle. No injuries were reported. Damage to the Hussein vehicle was estimated at $6,000.

• On Thursday, a car driven by Michael Dale Anderson, 63, of Marshalltown, was eastbound on Highway 30 when it struck a deer that entered the roadway and came to rest on the south shoulder. No injuries were reported. Damage to the Anderson car was estimated at $4,000.

Arrests

• On May 31, Jason Reicks, 36, of Dike, was arrested for a fight that happened in Dike on May 19. Reicks was charged with assault causing bodily injury and disorderly conduct. Reicks was released on his promise to appear.

• On May 31, Joel Kopriva, 30, of Dike was arrested for disorderly conduct. Kopriva was released on his promise to appear.

• On May 31, Alexander Lynch, 30, of New Hartford, was arrested for disorderly conduct. Lynch was released on his promise to appear.

• On May 31, Trent Dieken, 38, of Dike, was arrested for disorderly conduct. Dieken was released on his promise to appear.
