• John Brandon Robovsky made an initial appearance on a failure to appear for a sentencing hearing charge. Merrill Swartz will continue as counsel. The sentencing hearing will be rescheduled by the District Associate Court. Robovsky is released with supervision through the Department of Correctional Services and is to report to the adult probation office by the end of work on Monday to sign a pre-trial release agreement.

• Zakk Jaymz Cobb made an initial appearance on two counts of an assault with the intent to inflict serious injury charge. The public defender’s office is appointed as counsel. The preliminary hearing is set at 1 p.m. on July 16. Cobb is released with supervision through the Department of Correctional Services and is to report to the adult probation office within 96 hours to sign a pre-trial release agreement. A no-contact order has been issued for the protected parties.

• Rex Allen Rhiner, of Des Moines, made an initial appearance on a driving while revoked charge, a driving under suspension charge and a operation without interlock device charge. The public defender’s office is appointed as counsel. The preliminary hearing is scheduled at 1 p.m. on July 16. Rhiner was released on his promise to appear.

• Brandon Micheal Anthony made an initial appearance on a operating while under the influence-second offense charge. The public defender’s office is appointed as counsel. The preliminary hearing is scheduled at 1 p.m. on July 17. Anthony is released on his promise to appear. A substance abuse evaluation is ordered with the results submitted to the court within 60 days.

• Dandre Jerome Weathers, of Toledo, made an initial appearance on a theft-fifth degree charge. Weathers pleaded not guilty and a pre-trial conference is scheduled at 9:30 a.m. on July 24 in Magistrate Court. Jeff Hazen has been appointed as counsel.

• Codi Michael Heinrichs made an initial appearance on a failure to appear for a pre-trial conference charge. The pre-trial conference is rescheduled for 9:30 a.m. on July 10 in Magistrate Court. Bond will continue as posted until the conclusion of this case.

• Kristopher Ray Wilkinson made an initial appearance on a trespass-first offense charge. Wilkinson pleaded guilty and the fine is $200 with a $70 surcharge, a $125 law enforcement initiative surcharge and $60 in court costs for a total of $455, due with by Sept. 30.

• Jennifer Michelle Nail made an initial appearance on a theft-fifth degree charge. Nail pleaded guilty and the fine is $65 with a $22.75 surcharge, a $125 law enforcement initiative surcharge and $60 in court costs for a total of $272.75, due by Aug. 31.

• Francisco Anton Vasquez Martinez made an initial appearance through counsel, Anne Hasa, on a driving under suspension charge. A not guilty plea was entered and a pre-trial conference is scheduled at 9:30 a.m. on Aug. 7 in Magistrate Court.

• Kandice Peak made an initial appearance through counsel, Aron Vaughn, on a contempt hearing. The District Court will schedule the contempt hearing as its docket permits.

Accidents

• On Wednesday, a vehicle driven by Kristin Michelle Wacha, 24, of Marshalltown, was southbound on South Center Street slowing for a driver attempting a left turn in the construction zone when the driver became distracted by the driver behind her and she collied with the rear of a car driven by Alexis Erin Schrafel, 20, of Marshalltown. No injuries were reported. Damage to both vehicles was estimated at $1,000 each.

• On Thursday, Rex Allen Rhiner, 53, was arrested for driving while license is denied, cancelled, revoked or suspended, driving while license is denied or revoked and operation without interlock device.

June 23

• The Marshalltown Fire Department responded to a dispatched/cancelled en route to 118 N. 11th Ave. and three medical assists with the EMS crew to: 509 E. Olive St., 1304 Greenbrier Lane and 10 W. Madison St.

June 22

• The Marshalltown Fire Department responded to a dispatched/cancelled en route to 1309 Rolling Meadows Road, a motor vehicle accident with injuries at 2901 Main Street Road, an EMS call excluding vehicle accident with injuries at 405 W. Nevada St. and four medical assists with the EMS crew to: 1602 S. Second Ave., 1211 W. State St., 113 Bohen St. and 1 W. Grant St.

• The Marshalltown Fire Department responded to an unauthorized burning at 918 S. Center St., an alarm system activation-no fire-unintentional at 2306 S. Third Ave. and two medical assists with the EMS crew to 305 Sharon Ave. and 4 E. Webster St.

June 20

• The Marshalltown Fire Department responded to a dispatched/cancelled en route to 102 Iowa Ave. West and four medical assists with the EMS crew to: 403 N. Center St., 209 N. Fifth Ave., 122 W. Main St. and 1 W. Grant St.

June 19

• The Marshalltown Fire Department responded to an unauthorized burning at 710 1/2 E. State St. and seven medical assists with the EMS crew to: 122 W. Main St., 402 N. First St., 2802 S. Center St., 511 W. State St., 206 S. Fourth Ave., 801 N. Fifth Ave., 200 S. 12th Ave.

• The Marshalltown Fire Department responded to a seven medical assists with the EMS crew to: 1002 Jackson St., 209 N. Center St., 905 W. Nevada St., Fifth Street and Madison Street, 2 N. Second Ave., 104 W. Webster St. and 1401 S. 17th Ave.

• The Marshalltown Fire Department responded to an unauthorized burning at 207 N. Fourth Ave. and six medical assists with the EMS crew to: 11 N. First Ave., 1609 E. Nevada St., 1309 Rolling Meadows Road, 104 N. Sixth St., 306 Nicholas Drive and 1606 E. Nevada St.
