• Pedro Martin Velez made an initial appearance on a domestic abuse assault-second offense charge, a child endangerment charge and an obstruction of emergency communications charge. The public defender’s office is appointed as counsel. The preliminary hearing is scheduled at 1 p.m. on June 24. Velez is released with supervision through the Department of Correctional Services and is to report to the adult probation office by the end of work on June 7 to sign a pre-trial release agreement. A no-contact order has been issued for the protected parties.

• Tanner Joe Vinton, of Eldora, made an initial appearance on a possession of a Schedule III controlled substance-second offense charge, two counts of a possession of a Schedule II controlled substance-second offense charge and a possession of a Schedule IV controlled substance-second offense charge. The public defender’s office is appointed as counsel. The preliminary hearing is scheduled at 1 p.m. on June 14. Bond is set at $2,000 cash only. A substance abuse evaluation is ordered with the results submitted to the court within 60 days.

• Chris Alan Uitermark made an initial appearance on a domestic abuse assault-first offense charge. The preliminary hearing is scheduled at 1 p.m. June 24. Uitermark is released on his promise to appear. The court ordered that he be photographed and fingerprinted in connection with this case. A no-contact order has been issued for the protected party.

• David Lee James Spencer made an initial appearance on an assault causing bodily injury or mental illness charge. The public defender’s office is appointed as counsel. The preliminary hearing is scheduled at 1 p.m. on June 14. Bond is set at $1,000 cash only.

• Donna Jo Does Gorsuch made an initial appearance on a harassment-third degree charge and two counts of a possession of a controlled substance-first offense charge. The public defender’s office is appointed as counsel. The preliminary hearing is scheduled at 1 p.m. on June 24. Gorsuch is released on her promise to appear. A substance abuse evaluation is ordered with the results submitted to the court within 60 days. A no-contact order has been issued for the protected party.

• James Seed Jr. made an initial appearance on a theft-fifth degree charge. Seed pleaded not guilty and a pre-trial conference is scheduled at 9:30 a.m. on July 31 in Magistrate Court. Breanna Nelson is appointed as counsel. Seed is released on his promise to appear.

Accidents

• On Sunday, a car driven by a 14-year-old female from Le Grand was westbound on Church Street in the north lane when the driver attempted a left turn and collided with a vehicle driven by Dixie Lee Rodgers, 62, of Marshalltown, which was traveling west in the south lane. No injuries were reported. The juvenile was cited for turning left at an intersection. Damage to the Rodgers vehicle was estimated at $2,000 while the juvenile’s car received an estimated $2,500 in damage.

Arrests

• On Wednesday, David James Lee Spencer, 21, was arrested for assault causing bodily injury.

• On Wednesday, Tanner Joe Vinton, 34, was arrested for possession of a controlled substance-second offense.
