• Elizabeth Rae Tacconi made an initial appearance on a possession of a controlled substance-second offense charge and a unlawful possession of prescription drugs charge. The public defender’s office is appointed as counsel. The preliminary hearing is scheduled at 1 p.m. on Aug. 1. Tacconi is released on her promise to appear. A substance abuse evaluation is ordered with the results submitted to the court within 60 days.

• Omar Sanchez made an initial appearance on a contempt hearing charge. The public defender’s office is appointed as counsel. The contempt hearing is scheduled at 11:30 a.m.on July 22 in District Court.

• Dillon James Knight made an initial appearance on a failure to comply with safety regulation rules charge, an increasing loading capacity-reregistration violation charge and a driving under suspension charge. A pre-trial conference is scheduled at 9:30 a.m.on Aug. 14 in Magistrate Court.

• Nathan Daniel Hofert made a initial appearance on an unlawful possession of prescription drugs charge. The public defender’s office is appointed as counsel. The preliminary hearing is scheduled at 1 p.m. on Aug. 1. A substance abuse evaluation is ordered with the results submitted to the court within 60 days.

• Francisco Juavier Perdue made an initial appearance on a failure to appear for arraignment charge. The public defender’s office is appointed as counsel. The arraignment hearing is scheduled for 1 p.m. on July 17. Perdue is released on his promise to appear.

• Luis Antonio Puentes Lopez made an initial appearance on an interference with official acts charge. Puentes Lopez pleaded guilty and the fine is $250 with a $87.50 surcharge and $60 in court costs for a total of $397.50, due within 30 days.

• David Bawi Than Thang made an initial appearance on a failure to file a written arraignment charge. Thang was released on his promise to appear. An arraignment hearing is scheduled at 1 p.m. on July 17.

• Jeffrey Alan Carroll made an initial appearance on a possession of marijuana-first offense charge. The public defender’s office is appointed as counsel. The preliminary hearing is scheduled at 1 p.m. on Aug. 1. A substance abuse evaluation is ordered with the results submitted to the court within 30 days.

• Juan Valentin Rivas Vargas made an initial appearance on an assault charge. A pre-trial conference is scheduled at 9:30 a.m. on Aug. 2 in Magistrate Court.

• Jerrel Irokl Solang made an initial appearance on a driving under suspension charge. Solang pleaded guilty and the fine is $250 with a $87.50 surcharge and $60 in court costs for a total of $397.50, due within 30 days.

• Jorge Alejandro Martinez Cervantes made an initial appearance on a striking an unattended vehicle charge. Martinez Cervantes pleaded not guilty and a pre-trial conference is scheduled at 9:30 a.m. on Aug. 14 in Magistrate Court.

• Michael Dwayne Gerrish made an initial appearance on a driving while barred charge. The public defender’s office is appointed as counsel. The preliminary hearing will be scheduled at 1 p.m. on Aug. 1.

• Colton Warnell made an initial appearance on an animal neglect charge. Warnell pleaded guilty and the fine is $250 with a $87.50 surcharge and $60 in court costs for a total of $397.50, due within 30 days.

• On Friday, Kylan Roberts, 29, was arrested for possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of marijuana-first offense and open container.

• On Friday, David Thang, 23, was arrested on a warrant.

• On Friday, Muranda Kapayou, 26, was arrested on an open container charge.

• On Friday, Nia Lasley, 28, was arrested for open container.

• On Friday, Allis Tahahwah, 21, was arrested for open container.

• On Thursday, Omar Sanchez, 25, was arrested for criminal mischief-fourth degree, interference with official acts, contempt of court/violation of a no-contact order and possession of drug paraphernalia.

• On Thursday, Nathan Hofert, 18, was arrested for unlawful possession of prescription drugs.

• On Thursday, Derrick Henburg, 32, was arrested for disorderly conduct.

• On Thursday, Elizabeth Tacconi, 19, was arrested possession of controlled substance-second offense and unlawful possession of prescription drugs.

Accidents

• On Friday, a minivan driven by Sharon Ella Thompson, 59, of Marshalltown, was westbound on Summit Street when she struck the rear of a legally parked Dodge Ram pickup. No injuries were reported. Damage to the Thompson minivan was estimated at $5,000 while the Dodge Ram received an estimated $1,000 in damage.

• On Thursday, a vehicle driven by Jesus Christian Morales, 22, of Marshalltown, was westbound on West Boone Street when it pulled in front of a car driven by David Antonio Marroquin, 19, of Marshalltown, which took evasive action, but collided with the Morales vehicle sending it into a legally parked Dodge pickup. Morales was transported to UnityPoint Health-Marshalltown. Morales was cited for failure to obey a stop sign and yield the right of way. Damage to the Marroquin car was estimated at $500 while the Morales vehicle received an estimated $6,000 in damage and the Dodge pickup an estimated $750 in damage.
