• Sondra Ragen Alas made an initial appearance on a driving while barred charge and a driving under suspension charge. The public defender’s office was appointed as counsel. The preliminary hearing is set for 1 p.m. on Aug. 30. Alas was released on her promise to appear.
• David Michael Lecount made an initial appearance on a theft-third degree charge and a providing false identification information charge. The public defender’s office was appointed as counsel. The preliminary hearing is set for 1 p.m. on Aug. 22. Bond is set at $2,000 cash or surety.
• Christopher Lartes Proctor made an initial appearance on two counts of a violation of a no-contact order/contempt of court charge. The public defender’s office will continue as counsel. The contempt hearing will be scheduled by the District Associate Court. Bond is set at $10,000 cash only. A new no-contact order has been issued for the protected party.
• Brittney Ann Hansen made an initial appearance on a theft-third degree charge. The preliminary hearing is set for 1 p.m. on Aug. 30. Hansen was released on her promise to appear.
• Sarah Lynn Butcher made an initial appearance on an operating while under the influence-first offense charge, two counts of a striking an unattended vehicle charge, a leaving the scene of an accident charge, a no seatbelt charge, a no insurance charge, a failure to maintain control charge and a driving on the wrong side of a two-way highway charge. The public defender’s office was appointed as counsel. The preliminary hearing is set for 1 p.m. on Aug. 30. Butcher was released on her promise to appear. A substance abuse evaluation is ordered with the results submitted to the court within 60 days.
• Jesse Ceniceros made an initial appearance on a driving while barred charge. The public defender’s office was appointed as counsel. The preliminary hearing is set for 1 p.m. on Aug. 30. Ceniceros was released on his promise to appear.
• Casey Martin Cook made an initial appearance on a driving under suspension charge. Cook pleaded not guilty and a pre-trial conference is scheduled at 9:30 a.m. on Sept. 18 in Magistrate Court.
• Livianette Guzman Correa made an initial appearance through a Spanish interpreter on a no valid driver’s license charge and a no insurance charge. Guzman Correa pleaded guilty to both charges. On the no driver’s license charge the fine is $200 with a $70 surcharge and $60 in court costs for a total of $330. The fine on the no insurance charge is $250 with a $87.50 surcharge and $60 in court costs for a total of $397.50. All payments are due within 30 days.
• Rene Lynn Ira made an initial appearance on a driving under suspension charge and a unsafe approach to a highway vehicle with hazard lights on charge. Ira pleaded guilty to both charges. On the unsafe approach to a highway vehicle with hazard lights on charge the fine is $100 with a $35 surcharge and $60 in court costs for a total of $195. The fine on the driving under suspension charge is $250 with a $87.50 surcharge and $60 in court costs for a total of $397.50. All payments are due within 30 days.
• Jamie Lopez made an initial appearance on a driving under suspension charge and a failure to maintain registration plate charge. Lopez pleaded not guilty and a pre-trial conference is scheduled at 9:30 a.m. on Sept. 18 in Magistrate Court.
• Yanet Merino Garcia made an initial appearance on an animal neglect charge. Merino Garcia pleaded not guilty and a pre-trial conference is scheduled at 9:30 a.m. on Sept. 18 in Magistrate Court.
• Lonnie Douglas Poweshiek, of Montour, made an initial appearance on a driving while barred charge. The public defender’s office was appointed as counsel. The preliminary hearing is set for 1 p.m. on Aug. 30. Poweshiek was released on her promise to appear.
• Rocio Esmeralda Reyes made an initial appearance on a possession of marijuana-first offense charge. The public defender’s office was appointed as counsel. The preliminary hearing is set for 1 p.m. on Aug. 30. Bond will continue as posted until the conclusion of this case. A substance abuse evaluation is orded with the results submitted to the court within 60 days.
• Andrew Ziemke made an initial appearance on a no registration charge. Ziemke pleaded guilty and the fine is $20 with a $7 surcharge and $60 in court costs for a total of $87, due within 30 days.

• On Thursday, Aug. 8, Benjamin Arends, 39, was arrested for failure to affix a drug tax stamp, possession of drug paraphernalia, controlled substance violation and keeping a vehicle or residence for the purpose of selling or using controlled substances.
• On Thursday, Aug. 8, Matthew Merrick, 32, was arrested on a warrant charging him with voluntary absence from custody and theft-third degree.
