Court — Monday

• Christopher Wayne Haller made an initial appearance on a probation violation charge, an operation without owner’s consent charge, an eluding charge, a reckless driving charge, a driving under suspension charge, a possession of drug paraphernalia charge, two counts of an interference with official charge, a no valid driver’s license charge, an operation without registration charge, a no insurance charge, a no registration plate charge, two counts of failure to yield upon entering a through highway charge and a speeding charge. The public defender’s office is appointed as counsel. The probation revocation hearing will be scheduled by the District Associate Court. Bond is set at $2,000 cash or surety. The preliminary hearing on the new charges is set at 1 p.m. on Sept. 19. Bond is set at $3,000 cash or surety. Haller pleaded guilty to the possession of drug paraphernalia charge and the fine is $65 with a $22.75 surcharge, a $10 DARE surcharge, a $125 law enforcement initiative surcharge and $60 in court costs for a total of $282.75, due within 30 days.

• George Donald Biggs Jr. made an initial appearance on an interference with official acts charge and a trespass-first offense charge. Biggs pleaded guilty to both charges. The fine on the interference charge is set at $250 with an $87.50 surcharge and $60 in court costs for a total of $397.50. The fine on the trespass charge is $200 with a $70 surcharge and $60 in court costs for a total of $330. All payments are due within 30 days.

• Francisco Juavier Perdue made an initial appearance on a trespass-first offense charge and a trespass-second offense charge. Perdue pleaded not guilty and a pre-trial conference is scheduled at 9:30 a.m. on Oct. 9 in Magistrate Court.

• Mathew Andrew McCanna made an initial appearance on a domestic abuse assault-second offense-causing bodily injury charge. The preliminary hearing is scheduled at 1 p.m. on Sept. 19. Bond is set at $2,000 cash or surety. The court ordered McCanna to be fingerprinted and photographed upon release in connection with this case. A no-contact order has been issued for the protected party.

• Miguel Mendoza-Lopez made an initial appearance on a no insurance charge and a failure to make a complete stop charge. The no insurance charge was dismissed when proof of insurance was provided and the case was dismissed with court costs of $60. The failure to make a complete stop charge was dismissed due to lack of the charge being filed by the authorities.

• Radwan Said Abdirahman made an initial appearance on a failure to obey a traffic control device charge. Abdirahman pleaded not guilty and a pre-trial conference is scheduled for 9:30 a.m. on Oct. 9 in Magistrate Court.

• Andres Alvarado Jr. made an initial appearance on a operating while under the influence-first offense charge. The preliminary hearing is scheduled at 1 p.m. on Sept. 27. Bond will continue as posted until the conclusion of this case. A substance abuse evaluation is ordered with the results submitted to the court within 60 days.

• Jose G. Castro made an initial appearance on a contempt of court for non-payment of fines charge. A contempt hearing is scheduled at 1 p.m. on Dec. 16 in District Associate Court. Bond will continue as posted until the conclusion of this case.

• Bryce Chad Eubanks made an initial appearance on a driving while revoked charge. The public defender’s office is appointed as counsel. The preliminary hearing is scheduled at 1 p.m. on Sept. 27. Eubanks is released on his promise to appear.

• Joshua John Joseph Morgan made an initial appearance on an interference with official acts charge. Morgan pleaded not guilty and a pre-trial conference is scheduled at 9:30 a.m. on Oct. 16 in Magistrate Court.

Incidents

• On Friday, a hit and run accident was reported in the 3200 block of South 12th Street.

• On Friday, Sept. 6, a hit and run accident was reported in the 1200 block of Rolling Meadows Road.

• On Friday, a case of vandalism to property was reported in the 700 block of South Center Street.

• On Friday, a burglary was reported in the 700 block of East High Street.• On Sunday, a theft was reported in the 900 block of Iowa Avenue East.

• On Saturday, a hit and run accident with property damage only was reported in the 900 block of Jackson Street.

• On Saturday, two cases of vandalism to property in an attempted burglary was reported in the 100 block of North First Street.

• On Saturday, a burglary was reported in the 300 block of North Seventh Street.

• On Saturday, Donald Sanchez, 58, was arrested for failure to stop in the assured, clear distance and operating while under the influence-third offense.

• On Saturday, Brandon Nunez Mancera, 18, was arrested for assault causing bodily injury.

• On Saturday, Marco Rodriguez, 28, was arrested for no insurance, striking fixtures on a highway, possession of marijuana-first offense and operating while under the influence-first offense.• On Sunday, a case of arson was reported in the 800 block of South 12th Street.

• On Sunday, vandalism to property in the commission of a theft was reported in the 200 block of South Fourth Avenue.

Arrests

• On Friday, Jerry Bosely, 42, was arrested for contempt of court-violation of a no-contact order.

• On Friday, Kolton Bolar, 28, was arrested for no proof of vaccination.

• On Friday, Seton Smith, 43, was arrested on a warrant.

• On Sunday, Christopher Haller, 34, was arrested for possession of drug paraphernalia, two counts of interference with official acts, speeding, reckless driving, operation without registration, operation without owner’s consent, no valid driver’s license, failure to yield upon entering a through highway, no insurance, no registration plate, eluding and driving under suspension.

• On Sunday, Diana Strickland, 65, was arrested for no proof of vaccination.

• On Monday, Mathew McCanna, 31, was arrested for domestic abuse assault-second offense.

Accidents

• On Friday, a vehicle driven by Lavern Edward Bulver, 43, of Marshalltown, was northbound on North Third Avenue in the outside lane when the driver looked down and then spotted the car in front of his vehicle braking and took evasive action turning into the inside lane and colliding with a car driven by Nancy Abigail Avila, 28, of Marshalltown. No injuries were reported. Bulver was cited for failure to stop in the assured, clear distance. Damage to the Bulver vehicle was estimated at $2,500 while the Avila car received an estimated $3,500.

• On Friday, a legally parked Chevy Malibu received hit and run damage estimated at $1,500.

• On Friday, a car driven by Madison Kay Fogt, 23, of Eldora, and a vehicle driven by Laura Sue Hernandez, 39, of Marshalltown, were exiting parking spots opposite of each other when the two vehicles collided. No injuries were reported. Damage to the Hernandez vehicle was estimated at $1,000 while the Fogt car received an estimated $1,500 in damage.

• On Sept. 3, a car driven by Anne Louise Paullus, 68, of Marshalltown, was following the directions of the flag person and proceeded west on East Southridge Road into the intersection with South Center Street at the exact moment a dump truck driven by Lloyd Dean Fisher, 61, of Marshalltown, started forward resulting in a collision. No injuries were reported. Damage to the Fisher dump truck was estimated at $100 while the Paullus car received an estimated $2,000 in damage.
