• Andrew Dean Huntrods made an initial appearance on a theft-first degree charge. The public defender’s office is appointed as counsel. The preliminary hearing is scheduled at 1 p.m. on Sept. 20. Bond is set at $10,000 cash or surety.

• Justice Nichole Betts made an initial appearance on a domestic abuse assault-first offense charge. Jennie Wilson-Moore is appointed as counsel. The preliminary hearing is scheduled at 1 p.m. on Oct. 1. Betts is released on her promise to appear. A no-contact order has been issued for the protected party.

• Bradley Dwayne Dean made an initial appearance on a possession of a controlled substance-second offense charge. The public defender’s office is appointed as counsel. The preliminary hearing is scheduled at 1 p.m. on Sept. 20. Bond is set at $2,000 cash or surety. A substance abuse evaluation is ordered with the results submitted to the court within 60 days.

• Ernest Fletcher Williams made an initial appearance on an interference with official acts charge. Williams pleaded guilty and the fine is $250 with a $87.50 surcharge and $60 in court costs for a total of $397.50, due within 30 days.

• Johnny Seed made an initial appearance on a domestic abuse assault-third or subsequent offense charge. The public defender’s office is appointed as counsel. The preliminary hearing is scheduled at 1 p.m. on Sept. 20. Bond is set at $5,000 cash only. A no-contact order has been issued for the protected party.

• Agueda Jelena Diaz made an initial appearance on a forgery charge. The public defender’s office is appointed as counsel. The preliminary hearing is scheduled at 1 p.m. on Sept. 20. Bond is set at $5,000 cash or surety.

• Orlando Garza Hernandez made an initial appearance on a operating while under the influence-second offense charge, a possession of a controlled substance-second offense charge and a violation of a one-way traffic designation charge. The preliminary hearing is scheduled at 1 p.m. on Oct. 1. Garza Hernandez is released with supervision through the Department of Correctional Services and is to report to the adult probation office within 48 hours to sign a pre-trial release agreement.

• Elizabeth Marie Bell made an initial appearance on a reckless use of fire or explosives charge and a possession of drug paraphernalia charge. The public defender’s office is appointed as counsel. The preliminary hearing is scheduled at 1 p.m. on Sept. 20. Bond is set at $1,000 cash or surety.

• Rodney John Moorman failed to make an initial appearance on a driving under suspension charge and the court found him guilty. The fine is $250 with a $87.50 surcharge and $60 in court costs for a total of $397.50, due within 30 days.

• On Sept. 7, Wesley Wells Jr., 39, was arrested for operating while under the influence-first offense, carrying weapons, dominion of a firearm by a convicted felon, carrying dangerous weapons while intoxicated, possession of marijuana-second offense and possession of drug paraphernalia.

• On Sept. 7, Willie Frazier Jr., 47, was arrested for operating while under the influence-second offense, driving under suspension, operation without registration and no insurance-accident.

• On Monday, Cornelius Kylan Gully, 31, was arrested on a warrant.

• On Monday, Jose Gomez Villagomez, 36, was arrested for operating while under the influence-second offense.

• On Tuesday, Kendra Walker, 42, was arrested for theft-third degree, forgery, theft-second degree and ongoing criminal conduct.

• On Tuesday, Cornelius Gully, 31, was arrested for violation of probation.

• On Tuesday, Agueda Jelena Diaz, 19, was arrested on a warrant.

• On Tuesday, Jeremy Randall Nuss, 44, was arrested on a warrant.

Accidents

• On Sept. 6, a car driven by Steven Richard Ames, 68, of Marshalltown, was southbound on Highway 330 when the driver took his eyes of the roadway and collided with an Iowa Department of Transportation vehicle alerting traffic to roadway in the right lane. No injuries were reported. Ames was cited for failure to change lanes upon approaching a stationary vehicle. Damage to the Ames car was estimated at $3,000 while the DOT vehicle received an estimated $5,000 in damage.

• On Sept. 3, a motorcycle driven by Cooper Matthew White, 20, of Melbourne, was eastbound on 29th Street when the driver drove over some bumps in the road and began to lose traction, going out of control, sliding on its side on the roadway throwing the rider off with both of them coming to rest in the ditch. White was transported to Mercy Medical Center by Mercy One. Damage to the White motorcycle was estimated at $8,000.

• On Aug. 31, a vehicle driven by Amy Sue Sloat, 38, of Union, was westbound on Marble Road when it struck a deer that entered the roadway. No injuries were reported. Damage to the Sloat vehicle was estimated at $5,000.

• On Aug. 28, a car driven by Mario Rangel Reinaldo, 57, of Marshalltown, was westbound on Highway 30 when the driver drove off the roadway in the right ditch, continued driving before reentering the roadway and stopping on the shoulder. No injuries were reported. Rangel Reinaldo wa cited for failure to maintain control. Damage to the Rangel Reinaldo car was estimated at $2,000.

• On Aug. 28, a pickup driven by Robert Lowell Hunget, 69, of Indianola, was eastbound on Marshalltown Boulevard when the driver initiated a left turn crossing the path of a vehicle driven by David Lee Martin, 52, of Marshalltown, causing him to take evasive action which resulted in the Martin vehicle colliding with a car driven by Valerie Lynn Lamasters, 62, of New Providence, which was stopped at a stop sign on Marsh Avenue. No injuries were reported. Hunget was cited for failure to yield upon a left turn. Damage to the Martin vehicle was estimated at $2,000 while the Lamasters car received an estimated $1,000 in damage.
