Marshall County Courthouse Court ­— Wednesday

• Alan Schieffer, of Nevada, made an initial appearance on a burglary-second degree charge, a theft-second degree charge and an extortion charge. The public defender’s office is appointed as counsel. The preliminary hearing is scheduled at 1 p.m. on June 27. Bond is set at $10,000 cash only.

• Edgar Mosqueda Meza made an initial appearance on a domestic abuse assault charge. The preliminary hearing is set at 1 p.m. on Oct. 4. Mosqueda Meza was released on his promise to appear. A no-contact order has been issued for the protected party.

• Christopher Christian made an initial appearance on a parole violation charge. Jeff Hazen is appointed as counsel. The parole revocation hearing will be scheduled by the administrative law judge and the Department of Correctional Services. Christian is being held without bond.

• Tanner Jo Halverson Weese made an initial appearance on a violation of a no-contact order out of Black Hawk County. Tyler Heeren is appointed as counsel. A pre-trial conference is scheduled at 9:30 a.m. on Oct. 2 in Magistrate Court. Bond is set at $2,000 cash only. A new no-contact order has been issued for the protected party.

• Jessica Aguirre Rodriguez made an initial appearance on a operating while under the influence-first offense charge. The public defender’s office is appointed as counsel. The preliminary hearing is scheduled at 1 p.m. on Oct. 4. Bond will continue as posted until the conclusion of this case. A substance abuse evaluation is ordered with the results submitted to the court within 60 days.

• Megan Amber Wanatee, of Montour, made an initial appearance on two counts of a driving under suspension charge and a no valid driver’s license charge. Wanatee pleaded guilty to all charges. On the two driving under suspension charges the fines are $250 with an $87.50 surcharge and $60 in court costs for a total of $397.50 for each charge. The fine on the driver’s license charge is $200 with a $70 surcharge and $60 in court costs for a total of $330. All payments are due by Nov. 29.

• Savvanah Sara Ponce made an initial appearance on a driving under suspension charge and a no insurance charge. Ponce pleaded guilty to both charges. On the driving under suspension charge and the no insurance charge, the fines are $250 with an $87.50 surcharge and $60 in court costs for a total of $397.50 for each charge. All payments are due by Nov. 29.

• Shwe Nyunt made an initial appearance through a Karen interpreter on a no insurance charge. Proof of insurance was produced and the case was dismissed with court costs of $60 assessed. Payment is due within 30 days.

Arrests

• On Tuesday, Tanner Jo Halverson-Weese, 35, was arrested for violation of a no-contact order.

• On Tuesday, Delaurentiss Thomas, 24, was arrested for criminal mischief-fifth degree.

• On Tuesday, Edgar Mosqueda-Meza, 34, was arrested for domestic abuse assault-first offense.

Accidents

• On Tuesday, a car driven by Vicki Jo Huntrods, 62, of Marshalltown, was eastbound on Lincoln Way when it struck a deer that entered the roadway. No injuries were reported. Damage to the Huntrods car was estimated at $1,500.

Accidents

• On Sept. 3, a car driven by an unknown driver was traveling northbound in the southbound lanes of Highway 14 when it spotted an oncoming pickup driven by Roger Lee Rainsbarger, 55, of Marshalltown. Both drivers moved to the outside lanes to avoid a collision, but the move resulted in a collision. The pickup overturned resulting in the driver sustaining significant injuries to his face and the driver of the car fled the scene. Rainsbarger was transported to UnityPoint Health-Marshalltown with injuries. Damage to both vehicles was estimated at $10,000 each.

• On Sept. 6, a pickup driven by Bobby Joe Hill, 32, of Marshalltown, was westbound on Highway 30 in the inside lane when the driver attempted a lane change after passing and looking in the rear view mirror before pulling into the outside lane. A pickup driven by Richard Harrison Wilson, 64, of Garwin, was slowing to pull over onto the shoulder when Hill collided with the rear of his pickup sending it onto the shoulder with the Hill pickup coming to rest in the north ditch. No injuries were reported. Damage to the Wilson pickup was estimated at $2,000 while the Hill pickup received an estimated $15,000 in damage.

• On Sept. 7, a pickup driven by Stephanie Georgene Quigley, 43, of Marshalltown, was eastbound on 280th Street approaching Reed Avenue when it collided with the rear of a car driven by Anthony David Baldazo, 32, of Haverhill, which was stopped at the stop sign. No injuries were reported. Quigley was cited for failure to stop in the assured clear distance. Damage to the Quigley pickup was estimated at $1,500 while the Baldazo car received an estimated $1,000 in damage.• On Sunday, a car driven by Anthony James Ferrari, 22, of Ankeny, was southbound on Highway 330 at a high rate of speed when it collided with the rear of a car driven by Larry Gehl Wilson, 68, of Altoona. No injuries were reported. Ferrari was cited for failure to stop in the assured, clear distance. Damage to both cars was estimated at $7,000 each.

• On Friday, a minivan driven by a 17-year-old male from State Center was eastbound on 237th Street/Cooper Avenue when he lost control on the gravel, entered the ditch and rolled over landing on all four tires. No injuries were reported. Damage to the minivan was estimated at $5,000.

• On Saturday, a vehicle driven by Adalberto Perez Mateo, 56, was westbound on Highway 30 when a deer entered the roadway causing Perez Mateo to swerve to miss the deer resulting in the vehicle hitting the Exit 186 sign with the front passenger side. No injuries were reported. Damage to the Perez Mateo vehicle was estimated at $1,500 while the Exit 186 sign received an estimated $500.
