• Rachel Ann Danielson, of St. Paul, Minn., made an initial appearance on a possession of methamphetamine with the intent to deliver charge. The public defender’s office is appointed as counsel. The preliminary hearing is scheduled at 1 p.m. on Oct. 18. Bond is set at $25,000 cash only. Upon release, a substance abuse evaluation is ordered with the results submitted to the court within 60 days.

• Michael Roy Marsh, of Mankato, Minn., made an initial appearance on a possession of methamphetamine with the intent to deliver charge. The public defender’s office is appointed as counsel. The preliminary hearing is scheduled at 1 p.m. on Oct. 18. Bond is set at $25,000 cash only. Upon release, a substance abuse evaluation is ordered with the results submitted to the court within 60 days.

• Christine Louise Sheppard made an initial appearance on a forgery charge, an identity theft charge and three counts of a theft-fifth degree charge. The public defender’s office is appointed as counsel. The preliminary hearing is scheduled at 1 p.m. on Oct. 25. Sheppard is released through the Department of Correctional Services and is to report to the adult probatio office within 72 hours to sign a pre-trial release agreement.

• Lorrie Ann Bartlett made an initial appearance on two counts of an eluding charge, an operating while under the influence-second offense charge, an unsafe passing charge, five counts of a failure to obey a stop sign charge, a speeding charge, two counts of a driving under suspension charge, an interference with official acts charge, a no insurance charge and a no registration charge. The public defender’s office is appointed as counsel. The preliminary hearing is scheduled at 1 p.m. on Oct. 18. Bond is set at $5,000 cash only. A substance abuse evaluation is ordered with the results submitted to the court within 60 days.

• Antonio Villa Magana made an initial appearance on a probation revocation hearing. The public defender’s office is appointed as counsel. The probation revocation hearing will be scheduled by the District Associate Court. Bond is set at $2,000 cash or surety.

• Freddy Enriquez made an initial appearance on a probation revocation hearing. The public defender’s office is appointed as counsel. The probation revocation hearing will be scheduled by the District Associate Court. Bond is set at $5,000 cash only.

• Joseph James Robinson made an initial appearance on a warrant charging him with failure to file an arraignment charge. Beanna Nelson will continue as counsel. The arraignment must be filed by Oct. 16. Robinson is released on his promise to appear and ordered to speak with his counsel within 48 hours.

• Baylee Austin Waldo made an initial appearance through counsel, Taylor Reichardt, on a forgery charge, an identity theft charge and a theft-fifth degree charge. The preliminary hearing has been waived. Waldo is released on his promise to appear.

• Joel Rosas Vargas made an initial appearance on a driving under suspension charge and a failure to appear for a sentencing hearing charge. Jeff Hazen will continue as counsel on the sentencing hearing case. The sentencing hearing will be scheduled by the District Associate Court. Bond will continue as posted until the conclusion of this case. The court ordered Vargas to contact his counsel within 48 hours.

Vargas pleaded guilty to the driving under suspension charge. The fine is $250 with a $87.50 surcharge and $60 in court costs for a total of $397.50, due within 30 days.

• On Tuesday, Lorrie Bartlett, 53, was arrested for driving under suspension, eluding, operating while under the influence-second offense and participating in a felony-eluding.

Accidents

• On Tuesday, a car driven by Dawn Cherie Smith, 75, of Atlantic, was eastbound on East Anson Street stopped at the intersection with 12th Avenue and then proceeded forward into the path of a vehicle driven by Teresa Jean Janssen, 44, of Marshalltown, resulting in a collision. No injuries were reported. Smith was cited for failure to obey a stop sign and yield the right of way. Damage to the Smith car was estimated at $3,000 while the Janssen vehicle received an estimated $2,000 in damage.

• On Tuesday, Lorrie Ann Bartlett, 53, was arrested for operation without registration, no insurance, driving under suspension, interference with official acts and eluding.

• On Tuesday, Mary Ann Moody, 58, was arrested on a warrant.

• On Tuesday, Joseph James Robinson, 45, was arrested on a warrant.

• On Tuesday, Brittni Lynn Nichole Overman, 28, was arrested on a warrant.

Accidents

• On Monday, a car driven by Stephanie Leigh Cox, 45, of Dysart, was westbond on Garwin Road when it struck a deer that jumped onto the roadway from the north ditch. No injuries were reported. Damage to the Cox car was estimated at $2,000.
