Court — Thursday

• Christopher James Anderson made an initial appearance on a probation violation charge. The public defender’s office was appointed as counsel. The probation revocation hearing will be scheduled by the District Associate Court. Anderson is released on his promise to appear with the condition that he see his probation officer as required.

• Ronnie Neal made an initial appearance on a theft-fifth degree charge. Breanna Nelson is appointed as counsel. The pre-trial conference is scheduled at 9:30 a.m. on Nov. 20 in Magistrate Court.

• Deonta D. Brown Jr. made an initial appearance on an escape charge. The public defender’s office is appointed as counsel. The preliminary hearing is scheduled at 1 p.m. on Oct. 18. Bond is set at $5,000 cash only.

Incidents

• On Wednesday, a burglary with vandalism to property was reported in the 300 block of North Third Street.

Arrests

• On Wednesday, Jeremy Beason, 27, was arrested for failure to affix a drug tax stamp and possession of methamphetamine with the intent to deliver or manufacture.

• On Wednesday, Deonta Brown Jr., 22, was arrested on a warrant.

• On Thursday, Ronnie Neal, 40, was arrested for theft-fifth degree.

Accidents

• On Wednesday, a pickup driven by a 16-year-old male from Marshalltown was drag racing westbound on East Ingledue Street when it struck a legally parked Ford Mustang on the driver’s side front fender then jumped the curb and dug into the south yard at 1408 S. Second St. No injuries were reported. The juvenile was cited for failure to maintain control, no insurance-accident, drag racing and violation of an instruction permit. Damage to both vehicles was estimated at $10,000 each while the yard received an estimated $75 in damage.

• On Wednesday, a car driven by Madison Marie Kopsa, 26, of Gilman, was southbound on South Center Street when it sideswiped a car driven by a 17-year-old male from Albion. No injuries were reported. Damage to the juvenile’s car was estimated at $800 while the Kopsa car received an estimated $1,200 in damage.

Accidents

• On Sept. 26, a car driven by Haley Pearl Kent, 30, of Albion, was eastbound on 160th Street when the driver reached for her pop and lost control of the car going off the roadway to the left, entering the north ditch and rolling onto its top. Kent was transported to UnityPoint Health by a relative. Damage to the Kent car was estimated at $2,500.

• On Sept. 28, a vehicle driven by Jennifer Maria Guinn, 28, of Rhodes, was eastbound on 295th Street when a deer entered the roadway and the driver swerved to avoid the animal resulting in the driver losing control and entering the north ditch where it continued in the ditch striking a field driveway and going airborne. The vehicle came to rest on its top on the east side of the field drive. Guinn was transported to UnityPoint Health-Marshalltown by ambulance. Guinn was cited for failure to use a safety belt and no valid driver’s license. Damage to the Guinn vehicle was estimated at $10,000.

• On Oct. 1, a pickup driven by Ralph Albert Colbeth, 86, of Montour, was westbound on 260th Street when the pickup, which was traveling at a slow rate of speed, left the roadway and entered the north ditch coming to rest on the passenger side. Colbeth, with no trauma to the body, was pronounced dead at the scene. It is uncertain at this time if the driver experienced a medical condition prior to entering the ditch. The driver was transported to the UnityPoint Health-Marshalltown Morgue by Mitchell Family Funeral Home. Damage to the Colbeth pickup was estimated at $3,500.

• On Friday, a vehicle driven by Krystle Ann Nelson, 35, of Gladbrook, was westbound on the Garwin Road when a deer ran into the side of her vehicle. No injuries were reported. Damage to the side of the Nelson vehicle was estimated at $3,000.
