Court — Wednesday

• Jennifer Kayse Jame Barkalow made an initial appearance on a probation violation charge. The public defender’s office is appointed as counsel. The probation revocation hearing will be scheduled by the District Associate Court. Bond is set at $5,000 cash only.

• Michael Randolph Miles, of Toledo, made an initial appearance on two counts of an identity theft charge, two counts of a forgery charge and a fraudulent use of academic degree charge. The public defender’s office is appointed as counsel. The preliminary hearing is scheduled at 1 p.m. on Feb. 28. Miles is released on his promise to appear.

• Thomas Jeffrey Matteson made an initial appearance on an arson-third degree charge. The public defender’s office is appointed as counsel. The preliminary hearing is scheduled at 1 p.m. on March 2. Matteson is released on his promise to appear.

• Kevin Derrel Scoggins failed to make an appearance on a failure to stop in the assured, clear distance charge and the court found him guilty. The fine is $65 with a $22.75 surcharge and $60 in court costs for a total of $147.75, due within 30 days.

• Emily Anne Johnson, of Ames, made an initial appearance on a driving under suspension charge. Johnson pleaded not guilty and a pre-trial conference is scheduled at 9:30 a.m. on March 4 in Magistrate Court.

• Jeremy Douglas Park made an initial appearance on a driving under suspension charge and a no registration plate charge. Park pleaded not guilty to the driving under suspension charge and a pre-trial conference is scheduled at 9:30 a.m. on March 4 in Magistrate Court. He pleaded guilty to the registration plate violation and the fine is $50 with a $17.50 surcharge and $60 in court costs for a total of $127.50, due within 30 days.

• Jose Ambriz Rodriguez made an initial appearance on a driving under suspension charge. Rodriguez pleaded not guilty and a pre-trial conference is scheduled at 9:30 a.m. on March 11 in Magistrate Court.

• Jaime Guido Sanchez made an initial appearance on a driving under suspension charge. Sanchez pleaded guilty and the fine is $250 with a $87.50 surcharge and $60 in court costs for a total of $397.50, due within 30 days.

Court — Thursday

• Zachary Seabrooke made an initial appearance on a failure to appear for a trial charge. The public defender’s office is appointed as counsel. The trial will be rescheduled by the District Associate Court. Bond is set at $2,000 cash or surety.

• Jeremiah Eugene Gummert made an initial appearance on a child endangerment charge and two counts of a violation of a no-contact order/contempt of court charge. The public defeender’s office is appointed as counsel. The preliminary hearing on the child endangerment charge is 1 p.m. on March 2. The contempt hearing will be scheduled by the District Associate Court. Gummert is released with supervision through the Department of Correctional Services and is to report to the adult probation office by 4 p.m. on Feb. 14 to sign a pre-trial release agreement.

• Shelby Sue Powell made an initial appearance on a probation violation charge. The public defender’s office is appointed as counsel. The probation revocation hearing will be scheduled by the District Associate Court. Bond is set at $2,000 cash only.

• Luis Javier Mendoza Soto made an initial appearance through a Spanish interpreter on a operating while under the influence-second offense charge, a failure to maintain control charge, a no valid driver’s license charge and a striking fixtures on a highway charge. The preliminary hearing is scheduled at 1 p.m. on March 2. Mendoza Soto is released on his promise to appear. A substance abuse evaluation is ordered with the results submitted to the court within 60 days.

• Enrique Santos made an initial appearance on an extradition request from New Mexico. Christian Stickrod is appointed as counsel. The extradition hearing will be scheduled by the District Associate Court. Santos is being held without bond.

• Christopher Reid Salisbury made an initial appearance through counsel, Marshon Dubbert, on a driving under suspension charge, a providing false identification information charge, a no valid driver’s license charge and a violation of pre-trial release. The public defender’s office will continue to represent Salisbury. Salisbury pleaded not guilty to all the traffic charges. A pre-trial conference is scheduled at 9:30 a.m. on March 18 in Magistrate Court. Salisbury posted bond canceling the pre-trial release.
