Court — Monday

• Nathan Wayne Cuellar made an initial appearance on a carrying weapons charge and a possession of a controlled substance charge. The public defender’s office is appointed as counsel. The preliminary hearing is scheduled for 1 p.m. on April 30. A substance abuse evaluation is ordered with the results submitted to the court within 60 days.

• Krystian William Gonzalez made an initial appearance on a driving under suspension charge and a speeding charge. The driving under suspension charge was dismissed with court costs of $60 assessed. Gonzalez pleaded guilty to the speeding charge and the fine is $40 with a $19 surcharge and $60 in court costs for a total of $119, due within 60 days.

• Joshua Adam Smothers made an initial appearance on a operating while under the influence-first offense charge, a speeding charge, an open container charge and a failure to yield to an emergency vehicle charge. The preliminary hearing is scheduled at 1 p.m. on April 30. Smothers is released on his promise to appear. A substance abuse evaluation is ordered with the results submitted to the court within 60 days.

• David Murindwa Gapunwa made an initial appearance on a public intoxication charge. Gapunwa pleaded not guilty and a pre-trial conference is scheduled for 9:30 a.m. on July 29 in Magistrate Court.

• On Saturday, Blaine Hall, 20, was arrested on a warrant charging him with voluntary absence from custody, possession of drug paraphernalia, no valid driver’s license, driving while license is denied, cancelled, revoked or suspended, eluding and two counts of interference with official acts.
