Marshall County Courthouse

Court — Thursday

• Brittany Joeanne Blocker made an initial appearance on two counts of a possession of drug paraphernalia charge. Blocker pleaded guilty to both charges. On the first the fine was $65 with a $51.75 surcharge and $60 in court costs for a total of $176.75. The fine on the second charge was $65 with a $9.75 surcharge and $60 in court costs for a total of $134.75. All payments are due within 30 days.

• Victor Javier Chavez Pulido made an initial appearance on an operating while under the influence -first offense charge and an improper lane change charge. The public defender’s office is appointed as counsel. The preliminary hearing is scheduled for 1 p.m. on Aug. 14. A substance abuse evaluation is ordered with the results submitted to the court within 60 days.

• Jeremy David Lynch made an initial appearance on a failure to appear on a possession of drug paraphernalia charge. Lynch pleaded guilty and the fine is $65 with a 47.50 surcharge, a bond of $350 and court costs of $55 for a total of $527.25, due within 30 days.

• Logan Andrew Calkins made an initial appearance on a violation of parole charge and a failure to appear for a contempt hearing charge. Christian Stickrod is appointed as counsel. The parole revocation hearing will be scheduled by the Administrative Law Judge. The contempt hearing is rescheduled for 10:30 a.m. on Aug. 10. Calkins is being held without bond.

• David Lee Forehand made an initial appearance on a probation violation charge. The public defender’s office is appointed as counsel. The probation revocation hearing is scheduled for 2:30 p.m. on Aug. 10.

Court — Friday

• Jeremy Ian Roberts made an initial appearance on two counts of a violation of a no-contact order/contempt of court charge and a violation of probation charge. The public defender’s office is appointed as counsel. The contempt and probation revocation hearings are scheduled at 3:30 p.m. on July 30. Bond is set at $3,000 cash only.

Roberts was also seen on a voluntary absence from custody charge. The public defender’s office is appointed as counsel. The preliminary hearing is scheduled at 1 p.m. on July 27. Bond is $1,000 cash only.

• Sean Matthews Smith made an initial appearance on a violation of probation charge and a control/dominion over a firearm by a felon charge. The public defender’s office is appointed as counsel on the probation charge. The probation revocation hearing will be scheduled by the District Associate Court. Smith is being held without bond.

Jennie Wilson Moore was appointed as counsel on the firearm charge. The preliminary hearing is set at 1 p.m. on July 24. Bond is set at $5,000 cash only.

• Lance Matthew Schaum made an initial appearance on a violation of parole charge. Jennie Wilson Moore was appointed as counsel. The parole revocation hearing will be scheduled by the Administrative Law Judge. Schaum is being held without bond.

• Matthew Allen Sumpter made an initial appearance on a driving under suspension charge. Sumpter pleaded guilty and the fine is $250 with a $37.50 surcharge and $60 in court costs for a total of $347.50, due within 30 days.

• Logan Andrew Calkins made an initial appearance on a possession of drug paraphernalia charge. A pre-trial conference is scheduled at 9:30 a.m. on Aug. 19 in Magistrate Court.

• Andrew Andres Carrillo made an initial appearance on a possession of an operating while under the influence charge. The public defender’s office is appointed as counsel. The preliminary hearing is scheduled for 1 p.m. on Aug. 6. A substance abuse evaluation is ordered with the results submitted to the court within 60 days.

• Manuel Ramirez Jr. made an initial appearance on a possession of a controlled substance-second offense charge and a possession of drug paraphernalia charge. The public defender’s office is appointed as counsel. The preliminary hearing is scheduled for 1 p.m. on Aug. 6. A substance abuse evaluation is ordered with the results submitted to the court within 60 days.

• Tyrell Levi Roberts made an initial appearance on a driving under suspension charge. Roberts pleaded guilty and the fine is $250 with a $37.50 surcharge and $60 in court costs for a total of $347.50, due within 30 days.

• Brendan Scott Quigley made an initial appearance on a no valid driver’s license charge. Quigley pleaded guilty and the fine is $200 with a $70 surcharge and $60 in court costs for a total of $330, due within 30 days.

• Kristin Renae Story made an initial appearance on a dog at large charge. Story pleaded guilty and the fine is $65 with a $9.75 surcharge and $60 in court costs for a total of $134.75, due within 30 days.

• Eric Dean Callaway made an initial appearance on a driving under suspension charge and a speeding charge. A pre-trial conference is scheduled for 10 a.m. on Sept. 2 in Magistrate Court.

Incidents

• On Wednesday, a hit and run accident was reported in the 300 block of West Boone Street.

• On Thursday,, a case of vandalism to property was reported in the 200 block of South Seventh Street.

• On Friday, two cases of vandalism to property was reported in the 2200 block of Edgebrook Drive.

Arrests

• On Wednesday, Hailie Davis, 19, was arrested for overtime parking.

• On Wednesday, Sean Smith, 37, was arrested for dominion or control of a firearm by a felon.

• On Wednesday, Logan Calkins, 21, was arrested for possession of drug paraphernalia and on a warrant.

• On Thursday, Jacob Schultz, 31, was arrested for domestic abuse assault-first offense.

• On Thursday, Jeremy Roberts, 36, was arrested for two counts of contempt of court/violation of a no-contact order and on two warrants.

• On Thursday, Heather Perdue, 27, was arrested for driving while license is denied, canceled, revoked or suspended.

• On Friday, Lance Schaum, 30, was arrested for possession of marijuana-third or subsequent offense, providing false identification information and on a warrant.

• The Marshalltown Fire Department responded to two unauthorized burnings at 1112 Bromley St. and 700 S. 12th St., a dispatched/canceled en route to 512 S. Sixth St. and five medical assists with the EMS crew to: 218 Pleasantview Road, 2510 S. Sixth St., 514 E. Olive St., 312 E. Boone St. and 1006 S. First St. July 12

• The Marshalltown Fire Department responded to an unauthorized burning at 1607 W. Main St., a smoke or odor removal at 811 W. State St., an assist invalid at 302 Plaza Heights Road and four dispatched/canceled en routes to: 1302 W. Linn St., 111 N. Third Ave., North Fourth Avenue and Marion Street and North Center Street and West Grant Street.

July 7

• The Marshalltown Fire Department responded to an overheated motor at 905 Iowa Ave. West, a dispatched/canceled en route to 606 W. Church St., an excessive heat, scorch burns with no ignition at 1703 Edgebrook Drive, an unauthorized burning at 513 E. Boone St., an unintentional transmission of alarm at 220 E. Main St. and four medical assists with the EMS crew to: 915 W. Merle Hibbs Blvd., 1009 S. Third Ave., 2615 S. Center St. and 411 W. Madison St.

July 8

• The Marshalltown Fire Department responded to a carbon monoxide incident at 304 1/2 W. Linn St., a detector activation-no fire-unintentional at 2001 S. Fourth St., a dispatched/canceled en route to 1211 W. State St. and six medical assists with the EMS crew to: 310 S. Second St.., 204 Rainbow Drive, 1211 W. State St., 1010 Finkle Ave., 310 S. Second St. and 605 N. First Ave.

July 9

• The Marshalltown Fire Department responded to a natural vegetation fire at 1802 W. State St., an arcing, shorted electrical equipment at 1708 Edgebrook Drive, a medical assist with the EMS crew at 201 Plaza Heights Road and two dispatched/canceled en routes to Highway 330/ and Hart Avenue and 1500 Marshalltown Blvd.

July 10

• The Marshalltown Fire Department responded to an authorized controlled burning at Smith Avenue and seven medical assists with the EMS crew to: 613 1/2 E. Anson St., 112 N. First St., 702 W. Linn St., 1 W. Grant St., 122 W. Main St., 507 Bromley St. and 302 1/2 Bromley St.

July 11

• The Marshalltown Fire Department responded to two motor vehicle accidents with injuries at South 18th Avenue and East Anson Street and 1121 S. Center St. and four medical assists with the EMS crew to: 1211 W. Main St., 110 N. Second Ave., 1704 S. Sixth Street and 111 N. Third Ave.
