Marshall County Courthouse

Court — Thursday

• Ramon Jesus Mora made an initial appearance on a probation violation charge. The public defender’s office was appointed as counsel. The probation revocation hearing is scheduled for 9:30 a.m. on July 13. Bond is set at 10 percent of $2,000.

• Jasen Ralph Lucas made an initial appearance on a leaving the scene of an accident-serious injury charge and a no valid driver’s license charge. The public defender’s office is appointed as counsel. The preliminary hearing is set for 1 p.m. on July 22. Bond is set at $2,000 cash or surety.

• Amber Nicole Adams made an initial appearance on a criminal mischief-fifth degree charge. A pre-trial conference is scheduled for 9:30 a.m. on Sept. 23.

• Joel Vargas Rosas made an initial appearance on a driving under suspension charge. Vargas Rosas pleaded guilty and the fine is $250 with a $87.50 surcharge and $60 in court costs for a total of $397.50, due within 30 days.

Incidents

• On Wednesday, a case of criminal mischief to property in the commission of a burglary and theft was reported in the 200 block of North Center Street.

Citations

• On Wednesday, Jonathan Robert Leon, 26, was cited for leaving the scene of an accident, no insurance, failure to maintain control, failure to yield to an emergency vehicle, improper rear lamps, operating an non-registered vehicle, three counts of failure to obey a yield sign and speeding.

Arrests

• On Wednesday, Jonathan Leon, 26, was arrested for driving while license is denied, canceled, revoked or suspended, reckless driving, interference with official acts, dominion/control of a firearm by a felon, failure to affix a drug tax stamp, possession of methamphetamine with the intent to deliver or manufacture and possession of a controlled substance-third or subsequent offense.

• On Wednesday, Virginia Purk, 29, was arrested for possession of a controlled substance and domestic abuse assault-first offense.

• On Wednesday, Michael Day, 28, was arrested for fireworks-prohibited use.

• On Thursday, Jessica Ann Head, 28, was arrested for assault causing bodily injury.

June 28

• The Marshalltown Fire Department responded to a dispatched/canceled en route to South 12th Avenue and Madison Street and six medical assists with the EMS crew to: 308 E. Boone St., 206 Nicholas Drive, 312 W. Linn St., 3202 S. 12th St., 514 E. Olive St. and 210 E. Webster St.

June 27

• The Marshalltown Fire Department responded to a smoke detector activation due to a malfunction at 20 Iowa Ave. West, an electrical wiring/equipment problem at 404 S. Fourth St., three dispatched/canceled en routes to: 2401 S. Second St., 210 E. Webster St. and 112 N. First St. and three medical assists with the EMS crew to: West Church Street and First Street, 2510 S. Sixth St. and 1422 W. Linn St.

June 26

• The Marshalltown Fire Department responded to a motor vehicle accident with injuries at South 18th Avenue and Iowa Avenue East, a no incident found upon arrival at dispatched address at 102 Iowa Ave. West, an unauthorized burning at 206 S. Fifth St., a motor vehicle accident with no injuries at North Third Avenue and Woodbury Street, a smoke or odor removal at 2 N. Second Ave., two dispatched/canceled en routes to 200 S. 12th Ave. and 210 E. Webster St. and a medical assist with the EMS crew at 412 1/2 N. First Ave.

June 25

• The Marshalltown Fire Department responded to a medical assist with the EMS crew at 905 Iowa Ave. West and two unauthorized burnings at 504 N. Fourth St. and 408 N. Fourth Ave.

June 24

• The Marshalltown Fire Department responded to an unauthorized burning at 614 W. Linn St., an authorized controlled burn at 2102 S. Third Ave., two dispatched/canceled en routes at 1211 W. State St. and 1603 S. Fifth St. and three building fires at: two at 12 E. Ferner St. and 406 W. Linn St.

June 23

• The Marshalltown Fire Department responded to a grass fire at 1509 Marion St., a cooking fire, confined to a container at 502 N. Third St., an alarm system activation-no fire-unintentional at 11 E. Church St., a dispatched/canceled en route to 609 N. First Ave. and four medical assists with the EMS crew to: 122 W. Main St., 402 N. Third St., 2 N. Second Ave. and 1110 E. Anson St.

June 22

• The Marshalltown Fire Department responded to a medical assist with the EMS crew to 1101 S. Sixth St., a dispatched/canceled en route to North Seventh Street and Summit Street and a Central station, malicious fire alarm at 101 NewCastle Road.

Grundy County Sheriff

Arrests

• On June 28, Jeffrey Creger, 48, of Denver, was arrested on Highway 20 and charged with operating while under the influence-third offense and driving while license is revoked.

• On June 25, Ryan Stuber, 40, of Grundy Center, turned himself into the Sheriff’s Office for a Grundy County warrant charging him with failure to appear.

• On June 21, Lucas Hulin, 26, of Conrad, was arrested at his home and charged with two counts of child endangerment. Hulin posted bond and was released.

• On June 21, Ann Hauser, 70, of Gladbrook, turned herself in at the Sheriff’s Office on a warrant charging her with failure to submit fingerprints for a theft-fifth degree charge. Hauser was fingerprinted and released.

• On June 20, Carson Bystricky, 18, of Reinbeck, was arrested on T-29 south of 290th Street and charged with a controlled substance violation. Bystricky is being held in lieu of bond.

• On June 9, Phillip Elder, 36 and Kyle Draeger, 34, both of Wellsburg were arrested in Wellsburg and charged with serious assault. Both were released to pre-trial.

Accidents

• On June 23, a Jamboree motorhome driven by Paul Mansfield, 61, of Latonia, was westbound on Highway 20 when it struck a deer that entered the roadway. No injuries were reported. Damage to the Mansfield motorhome was estimat at $3,500.

• On S June 21, a vehicle driven by Carly Heindselman, 40, of Grundy Center, was northbound on T-29 south of 320th Street when it struck a deer that entered the roadway. No injuries were reported. Damage to the Heindselman vehicle was estimated at $3,500.

• On June 18, a vehicle driven by Debra Teske, 64, of Ackley, was eastbound on Highway 20 when it struck a deer that entered the roadway. No injuries were reported. Damage to the Teske vehicle was estimated at $7,500.

• On June 18, a car driven by Michael Frazier, 32, of Waterloo, was southbound onT-29 south of Highway 175 when it struck a deer that entered the roadway. No injuries were reported. Damage to the Frazier car was estimated at $8,000.
