• Butoyi Patiance made an initial appearance on a driving under suspension charge and a operation without registration charge. Guilty pleas were entered on both counts. On the driving under suspension, the fine is $250 with a $37.50 surcharge and $60 in court costs for a total of $347.50. The fine on the operation without registration is $70 with a $10.50 surcharge and $60 in court costs for a total of $140.50.

• Merlin Leonard Ohrt failed to appear on a disorderly conduct charge and the court entered a guilty plea. The fine is $105 with a $15.75 surcharge and $60 in court costs for a total of $180.75.

• Carter William Koop made an initial appearance on a driving under suspension charge. Koop pleaded guilty and the fine is $250 with a $37.50 surcharge and $60 in court costs for a total of $347.50.

• Armonniey Rudell Thomas made an initial appearance on an unlawful passing of a school bus charge. A pre-trial conference is scheduled for 9:30 a.m. on Dec. 29 in Magistrate Court.

Incidents

• On Tuesday, a burglary and theft of an all-terrain vehicle was reported in Beaman.

Accidents

• On Sunday, Oct. 24, a vehicle driven by James Merlin Dolphin, 64, of Conrad, was eastbound on 160th Street when two deer jumped onto the roadway from the south ditch and one was struck causing heavy front end damage. No injuries were reported. Damage to the Dolphin vehicle was estimated at $5,000.

• On Wednesday, Oct. 20, a car driven by Jeremy Paul Scott, 50, of Marshalltown, was westbound on Marshalltown Boulevard when it struck a deer which entered the roadway from the north ditch. No injuries were reported. Damage to the Scott car was estimated at $3,400.

• On Wednesday, Oct. 13, a car driven by a 17-year-old female from Marshalltown was westbound on the Garwin Road and swerved to miss a deer. This action resulted in the driver losing control of the car and entering the right ditch where it struck a road sign. No injuries were reported. Damage to the juvenile’s car was estimated at $3,000 while the road sign received an estimated $200 in damage.
