Maifest in the Amana Colonies

AMANA – Come celebrate spring in the historical Amana Colonies! There’s a unique experience waiting for all ages during this traditional German Celebration. German food, music and fun.

The festivities will kick off at 10 a.m. on April 30, with a parade through the village of Amana. This year’s theme is “Discover your Amana Colonies Adventure.” Following the parade, “Art in the Barn” will open its second year, showcasing local and regional artists’ work for viewing and purchase along with a Paint and a Pint painting class where you can create your own masterpiece. “Art in the Barn” will also include an Open Mic where anyone can display their musical talent. There will be great food with Potato Pancakes, Brats, Beer and more.

Maifest has something for almost everyone with live music, special foods, a car show, live theater and a Saturday evening dance that features Dogs on Skis.

Of course, what would Maifest be without our famous Maipole Dancers? Stick around all weekend and see them perform at various locations.

For the kids: Kinderplatz will be open from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday with activities, games and crafts for children to participate in, including pony rides, face painting and fun kid food for purchase. Many activities are free.

Sunday brings more fun as the Wine/Beer/Chocolate walk is back! Stroll through the beautiful village of Amana and try our famous wines, beer and chocolate specialty treats, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. You must be 21+ and there is $1 fee to participate.
