Steve Miller Band to headline Shellabration

TIMES-REPUBLICAN

FORT DODGE – Shellabration Inc. has announced that the Steve Miller Band will headline Shellabration 2016 on June 30 at Rogers Sports Complex (Fort Dodge Soccer Association Fields) in Fort Dodge. This year’s event will serve as the kickoff party for the long Fourth of July Weekend. “The Steve Miller Band is one of the top rated artists in the survey rankings,” said Shellabration President Jim Reed. “The Shellabration Board of Directors is extremely pleased to have landed them.” Adding to the excitement and buildup, the Steve Miller Band will be inducted into the Rock N Roll Hall of Fame in

April.

Steve Miller was a mainstay of the San Francisco music scene that upended American culture in the late ’60s. With albums like “Children of the Future,” “Sailor and Brave New World,” Miller perfected a psychedelic blues sound that drew on the deepest sources of American roots music and simultaneously articulated a compelling vision of what music-and society-could be in the years to come.

In the 70’s, Miller crafted a brand of rock n’ roll music that was polished, exciting and irresistible. He dominated radio in a way few artists have ever managed. Hit followed hit in what seemed like an endless flow: “Living in the USA,” “The Joker,” “Take the Money and Run,” “Fly Like An Eagle,” “Rock n’ Me,” “Jet Airliner,” “Jungle Love” and “Abracadabra” to name a few. To this day, these songs are instantly recognizable when they come on the radio and impossible not to sing along to. Their hooks are the very definition of indelible.

“The Steve Miller Band epitomizes the high energy artists our audience has come to expect,” said Shellabration Board Secretary Ted Bodensteiner. “This year’s show will continue the hit laden tradition Shellabration is known for.”
