Annual paperback book sale runs June 30-July 8

Benefits the Friends of the Marshalltown Public Library

The Marshalltown Public Library’s annual paperback book sale will offer something for every reading taste and interest.

The sale will kick-off on Friday June 30, and will be ongoing during normal library hours, through Saturday July 8. Tables filled with books will be set up in front of the checkout desk.

“They are all paperback books and sell for 25 cents each,” said Assistant Librarian Sandy Gowdy. “We have a good selection of books, including romance, western, mystery and adventure and non-fiction.”

New books will be added every day the sale is open (the library will be closed on the Fourth of July). There will not be any children’s books in the sale.

“We have this paperback book sale every summer. It’s a good time to have it with people going on vacation and being at the pool and they want to stock up on books for the summer,” Gowdy said. “People also stock up on the books to share with others and for reading material in the winter.”

Proceeds from the book sale benefit the Friends of the Marshalltown Public Library, which in turn, provides the library will funds to purchase new books.

Donations for the book sale are being accepted. Bring in donated books to the checkout desk. For more information, contact the library at: 641-754-5738.
