KAYLA CARR

Resides: Des Moines

Hometown: Le Grand

FAMILY LIFE

Family: My parents live in State Center and I have two siblings, Kyle and Karisa. My husband is Zach, and we are joined by Chloe, a four-month old Golden Retriever.

Hobbies and interests: I enjoy spending time outside. Zach and I enjoy bike rides, playing softball or other sports, and taking Chloe for walks.

WORK

Occupation: Business Development Coordinator at UnityPoint Health – Marshalltown.

What that means: I am working to develop and expand UnityPoint’s Occupational Health Clinic.

If I could change jobs: I would be a marine biologist. I love animals and the ocean, so it would be the perfect fit!

FAVORITES

Books: Titles by Nicholas Sparks. Also, “The Harbinger,” by Jonathan Cahn.

Movies: I watch more television series, and a favorite is “Greys Anatomy.” However, movies I enjoyed were “A Few Good Men,” directed by Rob Reiner, “Friday Night Lights,” directed by Peter Berg, and “The Hunger Games” series.

Foods: Pizza, and just about anything from Buffalo Wild Wings!

Sports: I love the Dallas Cowboys of the National Football League, and also am a Alabama Crimson Tide softball fan.

COMMUNITY

Best part of living here: I grew up in Le Grand, a small town a few miles east of Marshalltown. I loved being raised in a small community that has experienced so much change and growth over the years. I have met so many wonderful people who really exemplify “community”

Most influential people: My parents. They have taught me how to be independent, hard-working and humble. They have done everything they could for me, from staying up late to help with homework in grade school to driving all across the country for my softball career. They have been my biggest supporters and I continue to learn from them all the time.

Advice on life: Have the courage to live a life true to yourself, not the life others expect of you.
