Taking shape

Progress has been swift at the site of the future Leonard Grimes Memorial Amphitheater, situated on land behind the conservation center at Grimes Farm. Construction on the amphitheater began on Aug. 22, and it is on track to be completed by the end of November. The amphitheater will provide space for outdoor environmental education programming put on by the Marshall County Conservation Board. The three-level amphitheater will consist of quarried limestone seating for approximately 80 people. The tiers will be equipped with LED lighting for nighttime usage, and a raised stage will be covered with a cedar pergola with a fire pit in the center. An official dedication ceremony will be held sometime in the spring.
