• The Mount Vernon Community School District Foundation recently announced that an anonymous donor has contributed $189,629.60 to the foundation’s endowment at the Greater Cedar Rapids Community Foundation. Distributions from the endowment will help the foundation support the commitment of the Mount Vernon schools to excellence in academics, arts and athletics. • Christmas is quickly approaching and Morning Sun’s Food Pantry is gathering all the tasty ingredients that will build a special Christmas Day basket for families needing a holiday boost. The only special requirement to receive a basket is the pantry needs to know a Christmas basket would make your holiday brighter. Sign up by going to the pantry located at the United Presbyterian Church in Morning Sun between 3-5 p.m. on Thursdays. Dec. 14 is the cutoff day. — Morning Sun News-Herald

West Liberty

• The West Liberty City Council met on Nov. 21 to discuss a resolution approving a development agreement with the West Liberty Downtown Task Force. The resolution pledges Tax Increment Financing revenue to assist with downtown improvements in the light of the city’s application for a Community Development Block Grant. The fund would be used to make improvements to the West Liberty downtown area. — West Liberty Index

Prairie City

• Organizers of the annual Percy Fair are bringing back another tradition to raise money for tje renovation of an old one-room school house. The Perfectly Percy Pageant will offer live music, treats and kids activities for a free will donation. The Pageant is at 2 p.m. on Dec. 10, at the Prairie City Church of the Brethren. — Prairie City News
