HaverChill Day slated for Jan. 27

HAVERHILL — Cold temperatures aren’t a deterrent for folks interested in indoor and outdoor fun in Haverhill.

HaverChill Day, now in its second year, will take place at the Haverhill Social Club, Saturday, Jan. 27.

“We had such a good time last year hosting this event, so we thought we’d continue it,” said event coordinator Emily Ewoldt.

Festivities kick off at 10 a.m. with a hot cocoa and Bloody Mary bar. Also at that time, attendees can participate in a snowman building contest (weather pending). Back this year by popular demand is a chili cook-off. Registration will take place from 10:30-11:30 a.m., with an entry fee of $20. Folks can enter their chili in these categories: traditional red chili, hottest, vegetarian, and most creative. Please label crock-pot to note in which category it should be judged. Cash prizes will be awarded for the winners in each category. The public will be able to partake in unlimited sampling, from noon to 2 p.m., at a cost of $10.

A beard and mustache contest will take place, starting at 2:20 p.m., at a cost of $5. Awards will be given for longest, best groom job, and more.

All awards will be presented at 2:30 p.m.
