A Marshalltown Schools administrator will soon say goodbye to the district after more than two years of service.

“I enjoyed my time, I’m appreciative of the district for giving me an opportunity,” said outgoing district Director of Business Operations Brian Bartz Tuesday afternoon, after the district announced the position opening on its Facebook page.

Bartz said he is bound for a position with the Marion Independent School District when his time in Marshalltown comes to an end on March 30. The move will take him much closer to home.

“That’s where my house is,” he said of Marion, adding he will be able to walk to his new job. “That’s where I’ve lived the last 12 years.”

According to the district’s Facebook post and job description, the director of business operations has many duties.

“The Director serves as the Chief Financial Officer for the district,” the district’s post reads, adding the person in the position also acts as the Marshalltown School Board secretary and treasurer.

The director is also responsible for all district finances, including “preparing and administering the district’s budget,” according to the district’s job description.
