A Tama woman was arrested for domestic abuse assault-injury earlier this week when she allegedly pushed the victim — with whom she had a relationship — to the ground during an altercation in the parking lot of a local tavern.

Heidi Lynn Haughey, 31, was arrested by the Marshalltown Police Department and also charged with public intoxication-first offense and taken to Marshall County Jail. The MPD was initially dispatched to the tavern in the 300 block of South 12th Avenue on reports of two men and two women fighting, said Capt. Brian Batterson of the MPD.

During her initial appearance in Marshall County District Court earlier this week, Haughey was granted a request for a public defender by Magistrate Kevin O’Hare.

Additionally, O’Hare issued a no contact order against the defendant, meaning she can not contact the victim. Haughey’s preliminary hearing is set for 1 p.m. May 11.
