Oakview Nursing Home to again present ‘Concerts Under the Oaks’

CONRAD – For the 14th consecutive year, area music lovers will be treated to Thursday evening concerts by various groups, as Oakview Nursing Home in Conrad shares its annual “Concerts Under the Oaks” beginning on June 7 and running through Sept. 6.

The concerts are held on the front yard of the facility at the present, with a new permanent stage to be completed in the courtyard this summer, according to Kelly Case, activities assistant. Concerts are free and open to the public as well as to the residents of Oakview and tenants of Oak Estates Assisted Living Facility.

Attendees are asked to bring their own lawn chairs and parking is available in the BCLUW High School lot across the street. Lemonade and popcorn are available for sale at each concert. The concerts begin at 6:30 p.m. and are canceled if the weather is inclement .

The opening concert this year on June 7 is featuring the Vinyl Frontier Band. On June 21, Barefoot Becky will entertain.

In July, Vinyl Frontier Band returns on July 5; Cross Tie Walker on July 12; and Jean Grueffe and Friends will bring the entertainment on July 26.

August concerts include: Aug. 2 – Vinyl Frontier Band; Aug. 16 – Jim Hartman and Friends; Aug. 23 – Rex Gunderson Blue Grass and Aug. 30 – the Back Porch Pickers.

The final concerts in September include the Vinyl Frontier Band on Sept. 6 and a special Grandparents Day Concert on Sept 9 at 3 p.m. with the performance to be announced at a later date.
