Community updates from Monday

TIMES-REPUBLICAN

Here are community updates from Monday.

CURFEW

There was a curfew again Monday starting at 9 p.m. and going until 5 a.m. Tuesday. The curfew only applies to the downtown area and other storm impacted areas. The south side of town is not part of the storm zone. Check the city’s Facebook page for updated info on the curfews.

POWER

Alliant has repaired the gas system in town, spokesperson Mike Wagner said in an email, and they are in the process of relighting pilot lights. Alliant Energy has 40 workers in the field and they are getting extra help from 15 MidAmerican Energy gas crews to get service back quickly and safely.

If the crew misses you when visiting your residence, they’ll leave a hangtag directing you to call 1-800-ALLIANT to schedule a time to come back and complete the relight. Their goal is to get every gas customer back in service by midweek.

“Our workers will have an Alliant Energy or MidAmerican Energy ID badge, and they will need to enter your house to relight the pilot light,” Wagner said. “This is our largest response ever to a natural gas restoration event. Thank you for your patience as we focus on safety and service.”
