Local UnityPoint Health Cardiology Clinic a total loss

McFarland Clinic downtown now open

T-R PHOTO BY MIKE DONAHEY Walls and debris are what remains of the UnityPoint Health-Marshalltown Cardiology building, 206 E. State St., after Thursday’s EF-3 tornado.

Nearly one week after the devastating EF-3 tornado struck Marshalltown, local health care providers — McFarland Clinic, P.C., Primary Health and UnityPoint Health-Marshalltown — are now in a stronger position to offer patient services.

However, one casualty was UnityPoint Health’s Cardiology Clinic on East State Street.

“The Cardiology Clinic was a total loss,” Regional Marketing Coordinator Laura Rainey said in a email to the Times-Republican earlier this week. “Patients are being rescheduled in Waterloo and we are evaluating a future local clinic site. A Cardiology Clinic will remain in Marshalltown.”

Rainey also said in her email “the main hospital — 3 S. 4th Ave. — and the Family Medicine Clinic as well as UnityPoint Health Multi-Specialty Clinic will not re-open until regulatory requirements are met.”

Outpatient surgical procedures scheduled for this week will remain on schedule.

However, the OB/GYN Clinic re-opened Tuesday.

McFarland Clinic announced earlier this week its 312 E. Main St., office opened for patient care Tuesday. Its Southside Office and Express Care at Hy-Vee are also open.

Primary Health was open for business Tuesday.
