A Marshalltown man was arrested and taken to Marshall County Jail earlier this month for carrying and recklessly firing an AK-47 assault rifle in city limits according to Marshalltown Police Department and Marshall County District Court records. Angel Alaya-Hernandez, 28, allegedly fired one shot into the ground during a dispute involving two other individuals in the 3200 block of South 12th St., said Capt. Brian Batterson of the MPD. An investigation revealed Alaya-Hernandez also pointed the gun at one individual. However, that individual declined to press charges against the defendant.
