UPH – Marshalltown brings new OB/GYN specialists to the community

Earlier this month, The Women’s Care Group, an independent medical provider for OB/GYN services which practices in Marshalltown announced they are closing their offices as of Oct. 1. The group, not associated with UnityPoint Health – Marshalltown, announced this decision on their own accord.

Because OB/GYN services are considered a fundamental and valuable service for the community, UPH – Marshalltown will open a new OB-GYN Clinic on Oct. 1 on the main North Campus in the same clinic space occupied by The Women’s Care Group.

“By bringing in these experienced OB/GYN specialists to Marshalltown, our community will see no interruption in services including standing appointments, delivery and in-hospital care,” said Dustin Wright, vice president of operations at UnityPoint Health – Marshalltown. “After hearing the news that The Women’s Care Group is closing, UnityPoint Health – Marshalltown worked fast and diligently to bring experienced OB/GYN specialists to the community.”

Drs. Bilal Kaaki, Publio Ortiz, Brett Richman and Gwen Fang are the new providers who will care for OB/GYN patients at the new clinic. UPH – Marshalltown is also working to bring several advanced practice nurse midwives to this new clinic as well.

Kaaki completed medical school at the American University of Beirut, his residency at Case Western Reserve University. Ortiz completed medical school, along with his residency, at the University of Puerto Rico. Both providers are board certified through the American Board of Obstetrics & Gynecology. Fang completed medical school at Ross University School of Medicine and her residency at Medstar Franklin Square Hospital Center. Richman completed medical school at The University of Iowa and completed his residency at The University of Nebraska – Omaha. Richman is also board certified through the American Board of Obstetrics & Gynecology.
