Mendoza Soto

A local man was arrested by Marshalltown police on a warrant earlier this week and charged with willful injury, a Class C felony; domestic abuse assault causing serious injury; and three citations: Leaving the scene of an accident, failure to obey a stop sign and no valid driver’s license.

Luis Javier Mendoza Soto, 24, was taken to Marshall County Jail after police spoke to a victim in the UnityPoint Health Marshalltown Emergency Department. Capt. Brian Batterson of the MPD said the victim had multiple lacerations and swelling to her face which were a result of an assault from the defendant.

A Marshall County District Court Magistrate issued a no contact order, meaning the defendant may not contact the victim. Mendoza Soto’s preliminary hearing is Oct. 19. Bond is $10,000 cash or surety.
