Marshalltown Water Works names new CEO/GM

Experience lauded

Shelli Lovell has been named the new General Manager/Chief Executive Officer of Marshalltown Water Works.

Lovell, who currently serves as the chief operating officer at Iowa Regional Utilities Association, will assume her new position Nov. 7. She has a bachelor’s degree from San Diego State University as well as holding dual certifications in drinking water treatment and distribution. She succeeds Steve Sincox, who died in July.

“Lovell brings a great deal of water industry experience to the position,” Water Works Board of Trustees Chair Kenn Vinson said. “Her breadth of knowledge and her standing in the drinking water community will serve MWW well.”

During her 30-year career in the industry Lovell spent 19 years working with water and wastewater programs for the Iowa Department of Natural Resources. She also served six years as the administrative affairs manager for the Cedar Rapids Water Department where she coordinated management activities related to water quality, public information and regulatory compliance.

“I am extremely honored and happy to join the Marshalltown community as GM/CEO,” she said. “I am looking forward to working with the dedicated staff and community leaders, and my goal will be to continue to build on what everyone has worked so hard to achieve.”
