By the numbers: Bobcat University 2018

The first year of the Bobcat University summer learning program was deemed a success by Marshalltown Schools officials, who also said there is room for improvement in coming years.

A total of 237 students attended the program this summer, all of them in grades K-3. Here are some district data points from Bobcat University 2018:

• Total students invited: 254 (44 from each of the six

elementary schools)

• Total attendees: 237

• Number of students who required bus transportation: 99

• Number of teachers: 31

• Number of program assistants: 19 (8 full-time, 11 part-time)

Budget numbers:

• Total Bobcat University expenses: $169,480.95

• Marshalltown Schools portion of expenses: $106,658.60

• Martha-Ellen Tye portion: $31,323

• Mid-Iowa Community Action portion (through federal

grant): $23,999.35

• Community Foundation of Marshall County portion:

$7,500
