A Marshalltown man was arrested by Marshalltown police and taken to Marshall County Jail earlier this week as a result of an incident where he punched a victim in the face 10-12 times.

Shawn Leroy Menter, 41, was charged with assault causing bodily injury, according to a criminal complaint and affidavit filed in Marshall County District Court.

Capt. Brian Batterson of the MPD said the defendant went to the residence of a former spouse where he then assaulted the victim causing some blood loss and bruising. However, the victim did not require hospitalization.

Menter posted bond and was released. His preliminary hearing is Nov. 16.
