Burglary suspect arrested

Calkins

A local man was arrested earlier this week by Marshalltown police on a warrant which charged him with burglary in the first degree, a Class B felony.

Criminal complaints and affidavits filed in Marshall County District Court said Logan Andrew Calkins, 19, made forcible entry into a residence in the 500 block of Lee Street last month. The defendant then committed an assault on a victim causing no bodily injury.

Calkins was also charged with interference with official act and possession of a controlled substance – marijuana first offense. Related charges said Calkins also faces charges on obstruction of emergency communications and criminal mischief fifth degree. A magistrate ordered a no contact order against Calkins, meaning he can not contact the victim, Additionally, the magistrate appointed a public defender to represent the defendant. Bond of $25,000 cash or surety was ordered by the magistrate. Calkins’ preliminary hearing is Jan. 4
