Homeless man assaults two in residence

Davis

A homeless Marshalltown man was charged with two criminal counts of assault causing bodily injury earlier this week, according to complaints and affidavits filed in Marshall County District Court.

Phillip Terrell Davis, 28, was arrested and taken to Marshall County Jail on the complaints which said he entered a residence in the 200 block of South Third Avenue to gather his belongings. Before doing so, he struck the victim with a blunt force object leaving welts and bruises on the victims’ back, ribs and arms. The victim also sustained a cut on his head and eyebrow. Before departing the residence, Davis shoved a second victim into a wall leaving a bruise on the victim’s abdomen and a cut on her left hand.

Davis was also charged with theft – third degree from an outstanding warrant.

Davis was appointed a public defender at his initial appearance, and the magistrate issued a no contact order against the defendant, meaning he can not contact the victims. The magistrate ordered bond of $1,000 cash only on the two assault charges. Davis’ preliminary hearing is Jan. 4.
