Coston

A local man was arrested by Marshalltown police and taken to Marshall County Jail in relation to his possession of a firearm, according to a criminal complaint and affidavit filed in Marshall County District Court.

Daniel Edward Coston, 28, was arrested on a warrant, charged with control of firearm/offensive weapon by a felon, and also charged with possession of drug paraphernalia.

Capt. Brian Batterson of the MPD said local probation office authorities had stopped at Coston’s residence regarding an issue and found a .380 caliber semi-automatic handgun and drug paraphernalia in the defendant’s room. The gun and paraphernalia were turned over to the MPD officers who were waiting outside the residence.

Coston is being held without bond. His preliminary hearing is Jan. 14.
