Memorial Day Weekend events planned in Beaman

BEAMAN – Activities for the entire family and for all ages have been planned to take place in Beaman the weekend of May 25-27.

May 25 is fun day with many activities taking place on the town’s Main Street. From 7 a.m. to 11 a.m. the annual Fireman’s Breakfast will be held at the Memorial Hall. At 9 a.m. area runners can compete in the annual Pat Neff 2-Mile Run & Gemini Walk (registration for this event is at 8 a.m. in the park shelter house).

The Beaman Library will be open for 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. with the dinosaur lady doing a special program at 1 p.m.

Kids games begin at 10 a.m. including a cake walk, bounce house and other activities. All events for kids are free except the cake walk which costs 50 cents. Signup for the kids pedal tractor pull starts at 11 a.m. by the bank, with the actual pull beginning at 11:15 a.m. Lunch will be served at Memorial Hall from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m.

On May 26, a community church service will be held at the Beaman United Methodist Church. The library and heritage center opens at 2 p.m. – playing Floyd Ashton’s movies of past Beaman events.

Beaman will host its 137th Memorial Day observance on May 27. Activities will begin at 10 a.m. with the decoration of graves and program at Vienna Cemetery south of Beaman. The procession will then proceed to the Oakland Cemetery at 10:30 a.m. to decorate graves and have a program.

The annual BCLUW Memorial Day Baseball Tournament will begin its first game at 10:30 a.m. with four teams participating.

Dinner will be served at the Memorial Hall and the library and heritage center will be open 11 a.m. – 1 p.m.

The BCLUW High School Band will present a short concert at the bandshell in the park beginning at 1 p.m. The annual Memorial Day program at the park will begin at 1:15 p.m.

The day’s activities will conclude with Lion’s Bingo at the Memorial Hall at 6 p.m. Doors open at 5 p.m. with lunch available.
