One week left for Salute to Hometown Heroes nominations

T-R FILE PHOTO The Salute to Hometown Heroes nominations are open until May 15.

There’s one week left to nominate someone for the Salute to Hometown Heroes Awards, which will recognize five unsung heroes who volunteered out of the goodness of their hearts in the wake of an EF-3 tornado sweeping through Marshalltown.

The recipients will be recognized at the Times-Republican’s Progress and Pride banquet on the one-year anniversary of the tornado. All ticket sales to the banquet will support the Rebuild Marshalltown fund. The intended recipients of the awards are residents or groups who helped but were not obligated to. Nominate your hero today.

Nominations are open through May 15. Nomination materials include an essay of no more than 450 words. A review committee of community members will look for quality of actions from the nominee, not quality of essays. Nominators should include their name, phone number, email and address with the nomination. The committee may ask some nominators for supporting materials (photo, video, etc.).

Apply online at https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/H6DPHYB or send your application to the Times-Republican at 135 W. Main St., Attn. Emily Barske.

Winners will be announced at the banquet.
