A Marshalltown woman was arrested by authorities on a warrant stemming from a fire she started in her apartment earlier this year.

Elizabeth Marie Bell, 31, was charged with arson second degree and interference with official acts, according to criminal complaints and affidavits filed in Marshall County District Court.

On Jan. 8, Bell started a fire utilizing combustible materials inside her apartment in the 500 block of East Church St. and failed to ensure the fire was fully extinguished prior to leaving her apartment unattended. The fire caused more than $500 in damages, according to the complaint.

At her initial appearance, a magistrate ordered her held in Marshall County Jail on $10,000 cash bond and appointed a public defender to represent her.
