Hampton Inn & Suites celebrates renovations

TR PHOTO BY LOGAN METZGER The Marshalltown Hampton Inn & Suites held a re-opening Thursday where the Chamber of Commerce and the staff of the Hampton Inn & Suites held a ribbon cutting ceremony.

The Hampton Inn & Suites of Marshalltown re-opened Thursday with a crowd of about 30 onlookers present.

The staff and members of the Chambers of Commerce held the ribbon cutting ceremony. Dan Moellers, chair of the Chamber Board of Directors, handed Liz Wilke, general manager of the Marshalltown Hampton Inn & Suites, a certificate while she cut the red ribbon.

The Hampton Inn & Suites has been under renovation for about six months, though it was supposed to take eight weeks Wilke said.

“The only thing that is existing that wasn’t touched was the floor tiles,” Wilke said. “All new wall vinyl, all new carpeting, everything is brand-spanking-new.”

Every room now comes with a mini fridge and a microwave, as well as many of the rooms having photos of the Marshalltown High School Roundhouse and the Marshall County Courthouse. All the beds, televisions and other furniture are also new.

The swimming pool area, which used to be a shade of brown, is now painted a bright white and blue. This area also has brand new furniture.

Wilke said some small things are still on their way so the Hampton Inn & Suites is not 100 percent done.

“Hilton has a standard of excellence and that’s what is beautiful of staying at any Hilton location,” Wilke said.

Hilton requires a refresh every 10 years and this summer marked 10 years for the Marshalltown location.
