Man charged with domestic abuse assault third offense

Martin

A Tama man was arrested by a Marshall County Sheriff’s Office deputy and taken to Marshall County Jail as a result of a domestic abuse third or subsequent offense, a Class D felony.

Donald Ray Martin, 51, was taken into custody after authorities determined he struck the victim in the face while driving on Highway 30, according to a criminal complaint and affidavit filed in Marshall County District Court.

At his initial appearance a magistrate ordered the defendant held on $5,000 cash bond, issued a no contact order to protect the victim, and appointed a public defender to represent Martin. The defendant was previously convicted of domestic abuse assault in 2011 in Greene County and 2018 also in Marshall County.

The magistrate also ordered Martin be held on $2,000 cash bond for probation revocation. His preliminary hearing is July 19.
