Man charged with sexual exploitation of minor

A Marshalltown man has been charged with two counts of sexual exploitation of a minor, according to criminal complaints and affidavits filed in Marshall County District Court.

Jeremy Randall Nuss, 43, was arrested Friday by Marshalltown police on a warrant, and later transported to Marshall County Jail where he is being held on $10,000 cash only bond.

The incident which resulted in the charges — both Class C felonies — allegedly took place in September 2017 at a residence in the 10 block of North Ninth Street, according to the complaints. The victim was 17 years old at the time and the defendant 41.

Additionally, a recording of two oral sex acts was located on the defendant’s personal computer. The recording allegedly depicts the victim smoking methamphetamine with the defendant and showing signs of impairment.

Capt. Brian Batterson of the Marshalltown Police Department said the victim reported the incident to the MPD in May of this year. After an investigation, the MPD secured a warrant for the defendant’s arrest.

At the defendant’s initial appearance, a magistrate appointed Nuss a public defender and the court also issued a no contact order, meaning the defendant is not to have any contact with the victim. Nuss’ preliminary hearing is July 22.
