Mid-Iowa Drug Task Force arrests man

Arends

A Marshalltown man was arrested earlier this month by the Mid-Iowa Drug Task Force on two felony criminal counts — a controlled substance violation and failure to affix drug tax stamp.

The offenses are Class D felonies.

Benjamin Jon Arends, 39, was taken into custody after the MIDTF and United States Postal Inspectors Service executed a search warrant at a residence in the 700 block of South 12th Street. Arends was present at the time of the search warrant execution, according to a criminal complaint. The search yielded investigators approximately 319.06 grams of suspected marijuana, a scale, packaging, paraphernalia, a large quantity of THC filled vaporizer pen cartridges, and equipment know to investigators to be used for manufacturing butane honey oil. Arends was also charged with using a vehicle or premises for the purpose of selling or using drugs, an aggravated misdemeanor.

Arends posted bond of $12,300 and was released from custody.
