Leading the way

On Friday, 31 Iowa State University Army Reserve Officer Training Corps cadets began their run from the Marshalltown Public Library to points through town carrying one of the footballs to be used in the annual University of Iowa-Iowa State football game. Escorting the cadets in a Marshalltown Police Department vehicle was Capt. Chris Jones of the Marshalltown Police Department. He was joined by Marshalltown Fire Department Deputy Chief Chris Cross. Earlier in the day, the cadets visited residents of the Iowa Veterans Home. Both University of Iowa and ISU cadets stopped in selected towns along Highway 30 and ran routes through each community before getting back into vehicles and onto the next stop.
