A death investigation which began earlier this month at a residence in the 600 block of Lincoln Way is still underway.

“The investigation is ongoing,” Chief of Police Mike Tupper said. “We are awaiting an autopsy report which may take another three weeks.”

Autopsies are performed by the State Medical Examiner’s office in Des Moines. That office has periodically been understaffed due to a state-wide labor shortage.

Marshalltown police began conducting the investigation at the residence the afternoon of Sept. 4 and continued into the evening.

An MPD Crime Scene Unit was at the residence along with patrol cars for several hours. Tupper said the public was not in danger.

The name of the deceased was not released by MPD.
