Man arrested for probation violation and eluding police
A Marshalltown man was arrested by Marshalltown police Sunday for possession of drug paraphernalia and interference with official acts.
During the investigation, officers learned Christopher Wayne Haller, 34, was wanted on a warrant stemming from an Aug. 15 incident where he attempted to elude Marshalltown police in a vehicle and on foot according to court documents.
Haller initiated the Aug. 15 pursuit when he refused to stop when ordered by an officer in a fully-marked patrol vehicle with audible sirens and lights, according to the complaint. The defendant drove 35 miles per hour in a 25-mile-per-hour zone. Haller did not yield to pedestrians in the crosswalk when crossing Boone Street and Linn Street.
He eventually stopped the vehicle and eluded officers on foot.
Consequently, a warrant was issued for Haller’s arrest. The vehicle he was operating had expired registration and no insurance. Haller also did not have a driver’s license. He remains in Marshall County Jail on $7,600 cash or surety bond. Haller’s probation revocation hearing is Oct. 1.
