On Friday, several members of the Marshalltown High School Class of 1981 posed in front of the Veterans Memorial Coliseum (VMC) to present a check facsimile of $16,500 in recognition of their class donation to the “Rebuild the Coliseum Fund.” Front Row from left, VMC committee member Deb Mettlin Marshalltown Parks and Recreation Director Geoff Hubbard, Diana (Arment) Cardin, Regina (Ream) Dinsmore, Val (Thompson) Jones and Theron Schutte. Twenty-nine class members contributed to the fund, said Schutte. A VMC project committee has set a fund-raising goal of $1.35 million. Owned by the city of Marshalltown, bids on remodeling the venerable facility may be let soon.
